Squeak, Squeak, Squeak - on cold startup.
On initial cold startup, I get a squeaking sound that persists for perhaps 5 to 10 seconds. I don't hear it again until the next cold start. The belt tensioner has been relaced to no avail. I suppose it could be a bearing on a pulley? Engine mounts?
Anyone had a similar problem - with the answer?
Malcolm.

Probably a loose fan or alternator belt. What you replaced was the belt tension sensor, we don't have a tensioner. Take the pulley apart and tighten the belt using the shims. The belt tightens slightly as it warms, hence the squeak only when cold.

MD....Im sorry to tell you that noise is terminal. Your car is now junk. I will come up and pick it up on Thursday so you dont have to worry about the disposal whilst you are still mourning the loss. I'm ever so sorry to hear about this problem but I hope my selfless offer of assistance provides you with some small spark of light in such a dismal time.
