Hey guys, I've been considering the purchase of an '96 Arena Red TT that's for sale at a dealer just north of Greensboro. The car is pretty much stock except for some fabspeed bypass pipes. I'm just curious if you all think the asking price of $69,500 is in line with the market value of these cars. It's about $5k over NADA book value, but I realize that NADA can sometimes be inaccurate with relatively rare cars like the TT. I don't have enough seniority around here to post the link, but the website is:
sportauto.cc/inventory_porsche/1996_Porsche_Turbo/index.htm
Thanks!

Kakti993,
Nice car, but lightly optioned and looks like it stall hjas the stock, original suspension (those shocks are toast by now... $3k parts and labor to upgrade properly). Are you able to look at the Rennlist Classifieds?
If so, you may see Ignacio's Arena Red TT... lots of upgrades, more miles but way less money. You may also see Scott Mellor's Polar silver FVD car that is perfectly done and well maintained... about the same miles as this one, a way better car in every respect, and about the same money. I'm sure there are others in there that also represent better cars for less money.
Good luck. You've come to the right place for advice and help.

You might send Tim Wasmer a PM. His might still be available through a dealer. He might be able to put you in touch with the guy he sold it to. Tim did a lot of work to that car.

Thanks for the help guys. I test drove the car last weekend and from what I could tell it was in pretty good shape. I'm coming from an M3 so I don't have that much experience with Porsches yet, but it was definately a fun drive. I'm looking for a car that is close to stock config. A few mods are OK but I think with a 490 hp beast I would probably end up in the bushes (too much car for me). Good call on the shocks though Steve, I didn't realize they were that expensive to replace. I've been watching the market for a while now and know for a fact that the dealer has had this car for a good bit of time, so he may be willing to bend a little on price. In the meantime, I will keep looking.

Get him to bend more than a little. Arena/Gray is not a popular color combo, 45k is not very low as far as mileage is concerned, and the shocks will certainly need replacing (read "upgrading").

Silver and Iris blue were considered the best colours, Porsche had their demonstrator in Arena but it wasn't considered a nice colour back then. Guards red and white were totally out since they were from the late 80's early 90's when virtually every 911 was guards (I had 4 in guards and one in white

How things come round, I notice that today quite a few people consider Iris as undesirable and Guards and white are back in fashion big time and even Arena is more attractive than Iris ! Guards 993tts are pretty rare because of the fashion back then.......

check iboroel's car he is very well respected here. for the money you I don't think you will do better. plus you will save on the upgrades down the road, and if you buy stock you will want some upgrades, otherwise you would be buying a c4.
