Default surprised this car hasn't moved yet

http://www.ecarlist.com/cgi-bin/show...d=686&d_id=947

It seems like is been there for over a year now, anyone know anybody that has looked at it? Seems as though the passenger side airbag has been deployed or removed or something. I'd a thought this car would have gone quick

All the best

I called about the car last week. I belive they wanted $125K for the car and it is not federalized. It is legal in Canada, where the current title is, but not in the US. I think for those two reasons, the car will sit.

Yup... as clubrcr said above.

The car belongs to a long time customer of RUF in Canada and is not legal here in the U.S. I'm not sure why they just didn't try to sell the car in Canada.

I enquired about it too. You are right, they want $125k for it... I'd love to have it, but not at that price! + the Ruf warranty has expired. I was debating whether to buy an already converted car vs converting my own car. I enquired about it the car in late Nov 2006, and I know it's been up for sale for at least a month before that, so it's not shifted in well over 8 months now!

Just put a deposit on a property investment + a new car for my wife.... no new toys for a while...

What do you think a fair price would be for the yellow Ruf? I love it

That's because most of us are too cheap and/or poor to afford it

It's a thing o beauty though. I love the shaved rain gutters. Very clean looking and the right color for speed...

Painful! Love the seats on that yellow 993.

Next project: Shave rain gutters.

Since Ruf has a shop in the US now, would you think they'll be able to meet/convert to US specs? I always thought Canadian and US specs were very similar.

Default DOT issues? Oh yea!

I always thought Canadian and US specs were very similar.

Porsche VIN # with Ruf conversion work is still Porsche VIN vehicle. I can't imagine how difficult it might be to bring that baby into Ca. Actually it was not easy for me to get a factory Ruf VIN vehicle thru the process.

I called and told Wayne I would buy the car in addition to my blk/blk 96 RUF Turbo R. (I love the car too) (two RUF's!!!)

he discouraged me from buying it, said I'd be disappointed after owning my current car...

ISSUES WITH THIS CAR:

1) it started life as a C4S - not a turbo -this kills the value!
2) it has a Canadian VIN
3) the P/O had a dizzying array of electronics mounted everywhere (that's why the air bag is removed- he had police scanners there)
4) it is rear wheel drive only. this sounds great, until you drive it... (RUF only makes "narrow body car" one piece wheels, these are extremely traction limited in 2 wheel drive mode- I know, I had my mechanic "slip" my front coupling back to get a feel for 2 wheel drive for about a month. all I will tell you is getting the car sideways as I was passing a car at 60 miles an hour on a two lane road was enough to make you want all time all wheel drive -all the time!)
5) did I mention it does not have the turbo vin? that is the main issue

for the record- I love the car, I've watched it for approx 10 months now, it's just not worth the $ the owner is asking. at some point the price will drop... who will get it?

I can tell you one thing, it runs like a scalded ape.
