Thanks again everyone,
Enrique
Turbokraft is much cheaper and he also credited my old parts as exchange..
Addition to 3.8 P/C and TS conversion :
- RS cams
- Garretts
- Carrillo rods
- Fabspeed headers, 100cell cats, free flow air filter and other small things
I kept original Intercooler because it is good enough for my purpose.
Ask more from Chris, he's very friendly and helpful and knows many Porsche&machining experts like Bob from Mode.
Best Regards
Juha

Having seen a 3.8 by S Car Go, I'd never send a car there.

I think 9m has some interesting stuff and should have a US arm.

EBS might be able to shed some light.

You really need to ask yourself, is it going to be a street car or a race car? Does it need to pass your state emissions testing? The list gets narrowed down when you stick with the factory Motronic ECU and tuning. Many shops can build a 3.8ltr but few can tune them...

Protomotive: superior build quality/engineering
superior (IN HOUSE) tuning

Kevin,
It most certainly will not be a race car. However I do plan on running the car on a track here and there. I'm not too worried about emissions, which ECU do you recommend if one steers away from the factory Motronic unit?
Js-911,
Thanks again for the info, I will contact Chris sometime this week, their website didn't have much on 993tt's. How are you Garrett turbos holding up without water?

The water connection is not necessary on those Garretts. The water holes were left open, only oil from up to down via restrictors are used.

I have only used these half year but older Chris's customer have had these three years without water and problem.

One more opinion of S Car Go
Poorest customer service I ever met. I was ready to make 10.000$ order but it seems to be almost impossible to get any answer or price.
10 points for secretary. How she have power to listen same customers calling ten times trying to reach Rob.

Sorry to hear that about Rob, because they seem to have so much cabability. ( S-Car-Go Racing.)

Service is so, super important to me. That is why I am going to Protomotive for
my car.

All the other folks are good if not great.....I personally have had great experiences with Protomotive.. I have been using them for almost 16 years....and they will work with both turn-key and home-tuner folks alike..

.. And yes for a track car a 3.8 may not make sense and be problematic .... but with flame rings and welded heads occasional track use is ok from what I have seen... and as a rule of thumb displacement is usually a linear increase in torque and HP...(again assuming you have a good tuner)

I give also my votes to Bob. He's very professional guy and makes the best (looking) Intercoolers for TT - look at those inlets how smooth they are

The nominal 3.8l is 4% bigger than a 3.6l .
For what is involved surely there are better, more cost effective ways of gaining a 4% power and torque increase on a turbo motor ?

Back to the experts

The Bob Holcomb of yesteryear had his struggles too. I am hopeful his current work
and service is as upstanding as his reputation.

good luck!
