Wanted: headers
Well, somehow -- and I can't explain it -- I've "misplaced" the stock factory headers for my 993 Turbo. Well, with Mr SMOG knocking on my door, and me wanting my car in one bit ... it makes it so much easier to pass smog if the engine is relatively within the perimeter of the chassis and generally considered the primary source of propulsion ... so I'm in a pinch.
I would like to buy a set of 993 Turbo headers.
Or "rent" a set.
Either way, I need to create a durable connection between the exhaust, the turbos and the throttle body.
Any and all assistance greatly appreciated.
Adam
ps. email or PM if you'd rather, thanks.

What are you using right now?
Headers don't matter, it's the cats that will torpedo the event?
Typically used heat exchangers run $2,500.00
I seen a set on Ebay a few weeks ago..

I don't think there's a "typical" since so few people are buying or selling and the factory thing is mostly useless to the individual since you've either got them or you don't. Or perhaps you mean " typically used " rather than typically run in reference to market price. : )
Anyway, I'm not looking for an eBay opportunist gouge, this is just to get the car through SMOG. And in CA, smog includes visual, otherwise I could hang the turbos out the back with flame-thrower Tial waste gates and still pass CA idle-thru tests given the AWD exemption.

Adam the factory heat exhangers get wasted during the summer track events which takes the yearly glut of "spare" heat exchangers out of the market. And yes, the average price is between 1,800 to $2,500. This depends on how bad you need them, if you watch for the deals you can pay less. They aren't as plentiful as you might think.. The best price that I have paid was $800 but that was almost 8 years ago. The recent set I bought set me back $1,800.00 and they haven't gotten cheaper..

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the reply. I agree the market is thin -- unless a buyer is in the "where did I put those things?" category or a seller is in the "going to take the one-way trip to the track" modfiication, I don't see why these things would ever change hands. And I'll be lucky to find anything, much less haggle for bottom dollar. $1800 to $2500 sounds like the market range. The factory header with heat is still available (unlike many 993 parts) and lists $1700 +/- each. That makes it useless for anything but insurance estimates and crash repair in a car that, by the time the headers need replacement, is already toast. Aftermarket fabricators like Fabspeed have products around the $1800 mark and that's an option for me -- they probably flow better and weigh less than stock -- but I'm not looking for horsepower, so I'd rather just get some stock factory items, pass smog and be on my way. Hopefully the power of Rennlist will deliver me. : )
