Default shop for service in SF Bay Area?

It's time for my 60K major service. Any recommendations for shops would be appreciated (prefer an East Bay location).

Denny Kahler in Dublin serviced my '89 Carrera and I was always satisfied with the quality of his service. He has now retired and I am not certain how much experience the new owner has with 993tt's.

Best regards,

Tom:

Specifically for 993TT, the engine management and other unique systems (power clutch, electro-hydro boost brakes) I only use RMG over in Sunnyvale (408-738-2060).

This is not to say that other, closer shops cannot do certain work, but I have found RMG to have the most experience with the nuances of the 993TT systems. RMG is small with only 3 guys, but they do superb work with our difficult cars.

Tom,
I second Jim's views. Bob and the gang over at RMG are first rate. Took Jim's recommendation and had them check out my 993tt before purchasing it and subsequently had them do a full service and other work and have been very pleased with their work.

Might also try Rob King @ S Car Go Racing in San Rafael.

Best regards,
Tom, I worked for Denny when he owned the shop. I'm not there anymore but ALL of the mechanics still are so I would still feel comfortable about bringing your car there. BTW a few weeks ago I dropped in and they were servicing a sweet 993TT lowered on Kinesis wheels, anybody here??

I've used Bobbie for over twenty-five years, beginning in his (even smalller) original location and when he did all the work himself. I always lived in SF, so this sometimes wasn't the easiest of things to do, but I always felt it was worth it. Routine things like oil changes I would have done closer to home, but if it was something more important than that, I'd make the trip to Sunnyvale.

I, too, have recently gone to RMG and they are a really good bunch of guys. It really felt like a boutique where you were dealing with real professionals and experts of our cars with that homely feel. I'm definitely going back.

Must have been a *very* good Monday! I hope mine's doing as well in another 140,000+ miles.
