I had my '99 M3 repainted in my favorite BMW color, Imola Red, when it was in the shop for major repairs. It turned out great and was the color I really wanted, so I was very happy. It ended up as a 100% track car so resale was not an issue; although in the case of the M3, being Imola Red would have increased its value vs. being Bright Red.

Unless you are worried about resale value, paint it whatever color you like!
