Wiring Harness
I have 1996 TT and have seen on other forums that there has been a recall for USA and Canada TT's with certain Vin Numbers, does anyone have any information on UK TT wiring harness recalls.
Many thanks

Tarquin, I've had a e-mail from the 993 turbo register of PCGB, which says that in the UK its called a "workshop advisory" for service departments at OPC's. Apparently it applies to '96MY cars. Suggest you contact your OPC to see if it applies to your car. I'm in the same position as yourself. Hope this helps.

Thanks Cus
I'll do that and let you know how I get on, I had the yearly service just done and they didn't mention anything at Rivervale.
The car is going great and really moves.
Thanks again

I have spent some time looking through other forums and it appears there are alot of UK p-car owners concerned about this issue, I have noticed on one thread it mentions PCUK are saying a recall is due in late Dec early Jan, is the "workshop advisory" the same thing as a recall, I doubt it. Any way I will call and see what happens.

I'd be interested to hear what your OPC has to say on this matter. Perhaps its just an extra precaution on Porsche's behalf and there is no need for a complete recall, just as and when cars come in for routine servicing....... <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

I spoke to OPC today and they have said a recall for uk has just been issued, I have booked my TT in for its check this Friday, apparently they will check for eight different part numbers, they were unable to get a computer link with PCUK so could not confirm if my '96my is one they need to look at but I requested they do anyway as I wanted to feel confident, I will keep you posted at end of week as to outcome.
It seems Porsche are doing the right thing here, many thanks to the NA owners that have got this going.

Good news my 96my TT was checked by OPC today, no problems with Harness or anything else for that matter, the build date was either late Dec '95 or Jan'96 and by then Porsche were using revised harness material.
So I am back to feeling really happy, went for a spin to Hastings yesterday and the car coped well with the odd bit of ice we encountered.
I keep seeing other 993 TT's in the area, west sussex, does anyone know how many are around.
