Wheels for my turbo: what would you do?
The hollow-spokes on my 1996, arena red turbo got banged-up in an accident, and the ins company is willing to credit me for $2100 (refurbed set from Wheel Enhancements). I really, really want 3-piece modulars with a gold center. Here are my choices, along with prices including either sales tax or shipping, depending upon where I get them:
Kinesis K28R (reverse rim): $4720
Kinesis K28 : $4070
iForged (reverse rim) : $3030
I like the looks of the reverse rim, but wonder if it REALLY makes a $650 difference, once mounted on the car. I like the idea of a name brand like Kinesis, but also like saving almost $1700, which smells a lot like a pair of bigger turbos someday.
Please, what would you do? Your thoughts? Help me.

I was also considering the iforged Seneka or the Aero. The price I was quoted was a little cheaper for 18x8.5 and 18x11 with a 3" or 4" lip, can't remember. They are a great looking wheel, fairly light weight and built to order. Look through the Wheel/Tires archives as a gentleman there has these on his 996.
The reverse rim will give you a bigger lip and allow you to use a larger face. At least on the HRE's I just got, it is an 19" face and an 18" wheel.

steve,
you want something super agressive, sporty, and different from the rest?
check out volk racing forged rims...
not yet popular in the western world but has a cult like status in the east.
Forged= light and super strong
i cant post pics so check'em on the web.
i think the bronze ones would look killer on ur car.

okay guys, i've seen some of Iforged wheels and thought they looked good, but there is ALOT of bad news going around about them, rims bending very easily, paint peeling, people waiting up to 8 months for their wheels and still getting them in the wrong size and Iforged not willing to do anything about it. However, i've had a friend get a set w/ no problem and the wheels are stunning, but it's on a show car. Iforged says they use the same outer's as HRE but this has been proven false.
Just trying to watch out for you guys. Here is a link that may help:

But they are awesome strong wheels. Very popular in the import crowd out here.

Thanks for the insights. Sounds like I need to step up to the Kinesis plate. One of the problems is that I can't pronounce the name: Ki-"knee"-sis, I think, accent on the "knee".

OK, Kinesis it is. Now lets talk size: I'm thinking 8.5x18 fronts and 10.5x18 rear. I'm thinking of using 295x30x18 tires, mainly for looks, even though the choices in this size are pretty limited. I'm leaning towards the Yokohama AVS Sports, based on previous Cobra experience with other Yokohama tires. Any thoughts on this?
(my fronts are new 225x40x18 S03s). And yes, I firmly believe that you can mix tires, front and rear!

Why not go 18x11 in the rear? I am running 18x8 and 18x11 with the 295/30 Pzeros on my 993 C4S. I have the 996TT wheels and my HRE's are the same size as well. The 11's REALLY fill the rear wheel wells. I would go with the Yoks or Pzeros.

I'm with Sean - I think the 996TT wheels are the best Porsche wheels out there right now (at least for the money - you can get a new "take off" set on eBay with new tires for less that $2500).
