Kevin -

Should the hoses to the intercooler (boost hoses??) be completely dry? Mine are moist, although I have no smoke on start up or any other indication of oil problem. Intercooler looks pretty dry too.

My boost hoses have always been a bit damp. And yes I did clean them out after the blown turbo incident.

The hoses should be dry in a perfect world.. As these engines wear crankcase pressure tends to move oil from the basement into the plenum. What you need to look at is the compressor wheels. I also suggest installing my check valve kit, to reduce the oil migration from sump tank to engine case to turbochargers..

Steve, you can look at the wastegate kit thread on the 996TT forum and decide for yourself if you can install them. You have to make 100% sure that your programming and ability to adjust the wastegate is up to the task. You engine hardware and sensors have to be 100% or boost control will be a nightmare.. Kevin has done a major tune-up which has included plug wires and MAF components. He has also installed the check valve kit..
