Question 993 GT2 Wheels...

Hi Guys,

Did a quick search, but wasn't able to get a definite answer...

Does anyone happen to know whether 993 GT2 wheels will fit on a normal 993 Turbo?

Thanks in advance-

I have 9 and 11 x 18 GT2 BBS (3-piece) wheels on my 97TT. No problems with fitment.

Lance, what kind of suspension do you have and did you have to roll your fenders or anything like that?

Lance,

Do you have pictures? Where do you buy them? How much? What size tires are you using?

Thanks,

I have the normal 996TT wheels on my car, which has 11" rears compared to the normal 993TT 10". The problem is that the GT2 uses 8 1/2"s front (not a problem), and 12" rears. The 11s I have right now with 315 are tight with the fenders rolled. I do not know if 12s will fit. I also have the PSS9s fitted on the car.

Bob,

What do YOU run for tires? Are they street or track tires?

Thanks,

Steve,

They are Michelin Cups for that I drive on the street. 225s in front (which are closer to 235/240s) and 315s in the rear.

If you are talking about 993GT2 road wheels, 3 peice magnesium centre 9"x18 and 11" x18 the answer is NO they won't fit a 993tt. The offsets are wrong and the wheels will stick out beyond the arches. My answer to this can be seen in the avtar above.
I presume Lance's wheels will have different offsets so that they will fit - but they are an aftermarket wheel not OEM.

I've seen a GT2 in person and given the width of the bolt-on flares, I don't see how those wheels would fit on a TT. If it were possible, why didn't Porsche just use a TT body instead of starting with a narrow body and having to add the bolt-on flares?

I purchased my 9 and 11 x18 GT2 wheels from Fabspeed about 3 years ago.

TB993tt evidently disagrees and, he may be right. But, I still have the sales receipt and it says: "BBS GT2 magnesium 3 piece wheels". Is it possible that Fabspeed could have misrepresented what he sold me?

The rear offsets are slightly different from stock but they still fit fine. Did not need to roll the front or rear fenders.

Clearly there are some differences in exactly what represents a GT2 wheel.

Currently running P-zero C's.

Wheels'tires were costly - about 6K.

Looking for a picture. Will post when found.

Found Picture.

A picture of the GT2 wheels I have are on
http://www.fabspeed.com/
From the menu, select "Wheels"
The first wheel image is a gold BBS GT2 mag wheel. This is the model of wheel I have - without the centerpiece.

By the way, these wheels weigh bout half as much as the stock wheels.

I think 993GT2 wheels have grey centers and stylewise look similar to 993RS wheels. I also thought that they were 12" for the rear.

Lance - your wheels are very nice...do you know how much they weigh?

As what I understand ,the Speedline wheels on the GT2 road version will not fit on a 993 TT.

Here is a picture of my old GT2 road version with stock speedline wheels
