Kevin,

Here you go.

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/121353-weighed-my-car-finally.html

This is the BEST documented weight loss thread I have read on RL. If you have questions, contact Princeton directly.

Good luck.

1) where can I buy the light weight aluminum doors?

2) a sunroof insert (perferably aluminum, but CF will do)?

all the following #'s are lbs saved vs stock parts:

it seems---
RS DOORS 31 lbs ea
sunroof 44.0
RS DOOR panels (both) 10.0
cobra misano R seats 30.00 ea
rear seat delete 15.4 both
rear seat belts 4.0
RS euro bumper beam 5.0
light weight clutch/flywheel 18.0
trunck carpet 5.6
front windhield washer tank w/pump 12.0
engine undertray 14.0
aftermarket exhaust 15.0
spare tire/ pump 34.6
only half tank of fuel (vs full tank) 58.0
rear wiper & motor 4.5 (my car has this deleted already)
-------------------

one could lose 303.5 lbs (not counting the fuel savings from half a tank)
on a street car and still have A/C, radio, and sound deading it seems...

if you removed the front transaxle... it would be another 100 lbs for 400lbs total

that seems very simple, and you have not "hacked" your car up in the process.

if my car weighs 3307 lbs stock trim and I have 530 hp that is 0.1602 hp per lb (I think)

for every 100 lbs I lose that's like an extra 16.02 hp
If I lose 300 lbs +48.79 hp
(400 lbs = 64.099 hp)

am I correct in this assumtion? am I miscalculating these numbers?

(all weights listed were hijacked from another thread on the rennlist, I have not weightd anything myself)

Kevin,

I believe the AWD system is about 140lbs. Check posts/threads by VoperBob. He has a kit to do that.

My BTR weights 2,996 # with full tank. But mine is narrow body, 2WD. No weight reduction program on board.

The 2WD is about 45Kgs, about 100lbs? Viperbob is the man.

Aluminum hood can be gotten through Porsche MOtrosports or the factory. Lightweight glass as well (993RS).

Kevin, for a blindingly fast 993TT, you just need to go 2WD, add an LSD, get lighter seats, the Cobra that TB993TT has for a street car, CF doors, and lightweight wheels instead of those heavy RUFs, and you are done.

Get an AX 22 datalogger and do a 60-130mph run, check out the performance, and then the only other thing you might still need is a more powerful and better engine than the RUF.

To get a minimum realistic "street" weight target, we could work backwards:
The "euro spec" 964 RS weighs 1,249 kgs with full fuel and fluids.
Delete an "easy" further 92 kgs (off the RS spec) by fitting alu doors incl crash beams, cf rear deck, cf front wings, lw exhaust, lw clutch, lw wheels (keeping the spare) and cf bumperbars.
Add 80 lbs for the turbo plumbing and intercooler.
Add further weight for US emissions (cat).
You'd end with a 2wd "road" tt of around 1,200 kgs (2,650 lbs) or around 1,150 kgs for na, the minimum realistic weight for a "street" car with very few creature comforts. Princeton's car, a hand built uber-tt, weighs 1,234 kgs. Luxuries, safety features and creature comforts above RS level (airbags, aircon, power steering, power windows, better soundproofing, underseal etc) on top. 1,360 - 1,400 kgs is about the minimum for a car you can "live with" every day, unless you are prepared to spend big money.
Note of caution: The RS spec (and Princeton's car) include at least 30 items, many minor, that have been changed/deleted/upgraded to save weight.

Ima2r, your calculation for RS doors is a tad too low. They are 50 lbs each, complete (steel, thin glass, manual windows, no crash beam, no speakers, RS panels) a saving of 31lbs per complete door, over standard.

Anyone know how much weight is saved if one removes the headlight washers and associated materials in conjunction with changing to the RS washer fluid reservoir?

Jean ---

the G-tec Pro is only 300.00 vs the AX 22 = 960.00

i don't race at a track, and would just use the meter "occasionally"

is it still a good tool (the G Tec) to mesaure "improvements"? i really want to mesure the 60-130 times... help me out here. thanks.

With the spare(!!) included a habitable road car would be really getting down if it got to 1350 KGS (2970) That is comparable with road GT3 in similar form and questionable livability. To me having what is a comfortable environment making nice noises and looking spectacular and a joy to drive overates creating a dyno queen or a tin can ( I do have a few of those!) . Don't know what made me think of it at this point-- my 993 RS CS was 1250KGS( 2750) so somewhere in there the weights could be.

CAN WE GET SOME LINKS?

Please tell us where to find all these light weight go fast goodies...
(this is not to compete with the Rennlist sponsors) just a source to actually get some parts... google is not helping me at all...

Sorry Ima2r, I meant what I said. RS doors include the RS door panels that you show separately (i.e., you are double counting). Also, they have no crash bars. You'd need those unless you want trouble with your insurers. Plus - and as importantly - for your own safety.

So where do you find these goodies? For cf parts, FVD (www.FVD.de) is a good source (doors, hood, bumperbars). cf Rear Deck from MA Shaw (www.mashaw.com) and others, or custom. Alu doors in Germany but they are very expensive, or a fellow Rennlister (even more expensive). Exhaust from various sources or custom. Lw clutch, lw starter from Tilton (www.tiltonracing.com) and others or custom. Generally, it all costs a lot of money.

Ima2nr

You cannot buy these parts through the regular vendors. Most are from the Motrosport division, not available to the general public. You can get most of these parts, either through your dealer or through some Rennlist sponsors, or non sponsors. You can also check with European 993RS owners such as "Monique" on the 993 board, "Avoyvoda" must have some sources as well.

Rennlist sponsor Gert Carnewal on RL, www.carnewal.com will get you almost everything you will ever need for your car, he is in Belgium but has competitive prices, delivery and service.

I guess Kevin M @ Ultimatemotorwerks might be able to get them too. Steve Weiner at www.rennsportsystems.com might as well.

The aluminum doors are a different story and you will not be able to find them through dealers, I had a pair of original GT2 aluminum doors that are gone.

Edit: Just saw Avoyvoda's post

where do i get the aluminum doors... I like the idea of metal better than carbon or kevlar for a street car...

RUF can source the aluminum doors, but i would like to avoid the 'RUF TAX' if I can... please specify where/ how to get them.
