Default How are higher mileage 993 turbo's performing?

I am borrowing this topic from the 993 board since I thought it was a great thread. Wanted to find out who out there has a high mileage 993 Twin Turbo and how it is performing. Pictures are most welcome!!!

Roland

Above 55k miles on mine before I sold it. Had it about two years. Don't know if you consider it high milage.

- No turbo issues
- No oil issues
- No clutch issues
- No gearbox issues
- No valve issues
- No engine issues
- No differential or AWD issues
- No muffler or cat issues
- No AC issues
- No light bulbs replaced
- No repainted panels

The biggest expenses was:
- Gas
- Tires
- Oil
- Brake Pads
- Brake Discs
- Tax & Insurance

Oh, I forgot, I did once replace the alternator belt...

and the car looks like:

And it ran well enough to pull away from the new BMW M5 E60 on second and third gear.

Rassel, under biggest expenses for owning such a gorgeous 993TT (sic..now gone...) in Sweden, I recall you had mentioned earlier to me, "women"? I bet those GT3s are more economical in that respect?

Mine has 85K and I've only had two legitimate malfunctions in 11 years:clutch slave cylinder and MAF sensor, neither of which stranded me. I had a major rebuild at 67K to get more power. When Andial pulled it apart they found loose exhaust valves, a separated lifter and a worn, but still usable clutch. No visible wear on the cylinders, still had the crosshatch. Tach digital display, corroded fan resistors, steering rack boots and worn leather on the steering wheel are in the nuisance catagory. Porsche replaced the engine harness and rear window under warranty recalls. Bent wheels and worn out brakes I take full responsibility for.

Waldo had 68K on him when I sold him. Previous owner had done the steering rack, clutch slave cylinder, and aux fan resistors. I only did upgrades. I believe the clutch was original and still useful when I sold him.

Rufus has 105k miles, but Ruf did a "split-the-case" rebuild on him at 86,500 when they did the conversion. Since I've owned the car, I've replaced the clutch accumulator, the alternator, and just now... the wiring harness (trying to track down a CEL code 1140). So far so good on the CEL, but the belt-tensioner warning is still on. Its not the sensor (this is the third they've tried, and obviously not the harness (as I was told)), so I'm a bit mystified on this last gremlin. This car runs and looks brand new.

Eh... didn't really bring them into the equation. They would kind of brake the budget..

GT3 are far more economical! Bambi has a tendency to get a soar butt from the Recaros, Scandal is upset that she can't use the make-up mirror because of the roll-cage and Blondie's high heels and the fire-extinguisher don't go along too well...

And none of them want's to be on pictures with the GT3

Mines done 71k,
From the file clutch done and disks
Since I've owned (11 months)
Spent £1500 replacing all disks and pads, replaced rear dampers and weeping cam all items were identified when I purchased for £28k purchase and nothing extra reported when the work was done. Car was also driven by the specialist who owns one as well and said it felt up to speed etc

Sorry... Gordon... did you say you paid £28K for your car? I thought that was the going-rate for a decent mileage 993 Carrera...

I'm considering paying 53k plush 1500.00 shipping for this car...

URL=http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=110028416230&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3 AMEWA%3AIT]96 arena red /grey interor with full factory carbon fiber options[/URL]

it was a 1 owner car in florida until 6 months ago when this guy bought it... he says he broke his back 8 years ago and the ride is too stiff for him...

I really want a modified car, but the interior on this car kills most of the vehicles i have looked at so far... it is also 10k less than the other ones, but I.m not sure if i will be happy about the cost to get this one up to speed after wheels, turbos, oil cooler, stereo, etc....

what do you guys think? BTW no to high jack this tread.... this is a 66k mile car

Ima2nr,

That looks like a great deal if there are no serious issues or stories. I love the sport seats, alum dials, and large c/f package. I'd et the car and take your time modifying it to your taste. Seriously. this is a hobby, not transportation... enjoy taking a yesr or two to get to know the car and slowly transform it to yours. Here's another tip... do not transport the car... go up and drive it home. It will be the road trip of your life.

Best luck.

I've literally just paid £27k for my 3.3 Turbo 2!

Gordon, where on earth did you find a 993TT for that price?

The driver's seat is pretty worn for a 66k car....I would wonder about the overall condition. A PPI is strongly recommended, of course. If it checks out, it would be a great deal. Best of luck with your purchase!

ca993twin---- (Steve) ---

you noticed it has the hard back "sport seats" -i didn't, and the current owner did not mention them. he did mention this car has the factory rear seat delete...

are the sport seats lighter weight? or are they just diffrent than the normal seats?

once again Steve has an eagle eye!
