Default Ferrari Owner thinking of switching to 993tt

Well after searching for 12 months for the right Ferrari I am leaning towards getting into a Porsche 993tt. Actually I would love to keep my F-car just for weekends but the wife says one or the other. The Ferrari is an absolutely mint 91' 348ts. Red/Tan with 20k miles and all service done. The car I am interested in would be a black or silver 96' 993tt with 40-50k miles. I want a car that is completely stock. I know that a lot of P-car owners like to mod thier cars and I respect that but its not for me. Here is a link to my car for sale on F-chat.

BTW this is my first post so I hope I don't flamed. I just want to get some 993tt owner feedback to see if I am going in the right direction. Before I make another big leap.
Thanks!

Welcome;

I don't think that you are going to get flamed here..

However, if you cut and pasted your desire on the Ferrari board that might be a different story.

It will take you a little time to find the car that you want.. Being a '96 there are some around in silver or black.

Check:
http://www.993tt.com/
and do a search on WTB 993TT and you should have some good reading in front of you.
Also, even though you mentioned you want an unmodified car. Atleast try one out before you decide not to go for a modded one. Some mods are very good and it will not affect the value of the car, rather increase it.

P.S Be prepared, there's a lot more grunt in a 993TT than a 348..

Ecco,

I can give you more info if you want, PM me.

Just a brief history I had a 1993 348SS and a 1991 Testarossa prior to owning my 1996 993TT. I am very happy with the switch

Hey! Watch the Scion jokes. My everyday commuter car is a bright red xA. And I still have the wife. Where did I go wrong?

Ferarri 348 is a beautiful car, and capable of great auditory delight. The 993TT is superior in every conceivable way except for that V8 music.

Beautiful 348 there, chief. Always loved the shape of that car. Can't believe its 15 years old now ... I remember drooling over it when it was first introduced ... a sure sign I'm getting old!

Just think you can save a lot of money on a tow car and trailer that you need with the Ferrari!

Thanks for the warm welcome and for the honest replys. I have more cars than I cant count including a couple of vipers and Porsches. A normally na 911 and then a 87 Turbo. I remember the turbo not having much off the line and then this insane rush of power would hit. It seemed that the car would actually twist from the force of it. A lot of fun. I know that 993tt does not have that lag and much more power. I hope to drive one this weekend. I found a guy on Autotrader selling his only a few miles from my house. Its a black 993tt w/54k miles. What can anyone tell me about the services and intervals on these cars? I know on my Ferrari they are ridiculous. Thanks again! btw. I ran a spell check on my post and it told me I misspelled Ferrari!!! The suggestion came up FARRARI...LOL someone might want to let the administrator know.

Normal service interval is 15k miles or once a year (I think). Most guys here do an oil change every 5k to 7k miles... kinda depends on how many miles you put on. The plugs, belts, all filters and fluids are change every 30k miles. The engines use hydraulic lifters, so no valve adjustments. The turbos are no different in almost all respects as the NA cars, and just as robust. Pretty amazing for a true supercar. The turbos should have a cool down period after driving... a good time to wipe it down or get the car cover started. 1 or 2 minutes depending on how hard its been flogged. Good luck on the search.
