Cargraphic wins again the German Tuner GP
No affiliation, here are the news.
The Cargraphic 996RSC is the same that won last year.

I've learned that the question that should be asked is.. Who was there to compete against. Mathay, Sportec, Ruf, 9ff, Gemballa. Or who were the no shows..

I can check that, I think there were something like 17 entrants, definitely Gemballa (with no other than the famous Kaufmann on the wheel) and Techart.. As far as I am concerned, whoever does not participate amongst the German tuners is because he does not want to loose.
As an FYI, I called the gentleman in charge (From Sport Auto) sometime before the event to understand the regulations for the participation, and they were very happy to accept cars from the US as well.
The other only handicap is that the cars would have to be TUV legal, and I think less than 1% of the high HP (700FWHP+) tuner cars in the US would make it... I extended that invitation to a major US tuner since he had expressed interest long time back, but he did not think I was worth an answer or a thank you note. Oh well

As an FYI,
The Cargraphic 996RSC, the 996GT2 EDO (ex "Ring record breaker) and the 993GT2 from RDM racing are all RS Tuning builds.
Rassel, I thought you lived in Norway, grid girls over there should not be too bad?

The true statement.. " whoever does not participate amongst the German tuners is because he does not want to loose" However, it should really say, If we can't win, we aren't showing.
Jean, I don't know of any US tuner that has received the TUV certification. People do not realize what that means and costs. Your test car or tuned car has to go to the TUV test cell and run all the HP and published numbers that you have AND meet German car emissions and noise requirements. If you publish that your car is rated at 700HP when it goes on the TUV rolling road.. Million dollar test cell, if it fails your car gets kicked out and you have to re-schedule.. At the same time, maybe you make the 700HP, but then you don't meet the cold start emission requirement, due to your 70lbs fuel injectors, dumping fuel at idle.. All Tuners in Germany have to have there kits tested this way..

..
..
Your english seems better than mine .. I agree, this is the right way to say it.
As far as TUV, this is exactly the point I was trying to make. Why would someone like RS Tuning have to put $20k intercoolers in his cars and go through all sorts of internal mods and cooling improvement etc..to claim "only" 650HP? Because once he puts his car on the TUV dyno, he needs to sustain that power under extremely stringent conditions. All the high HP kits that are being sold out there would not stand a chance to pass TUV.
A correction to my earlier post, non TUV cars can enter the GP as well, under the "open category"...

Regarding TüV - We can't import without going through equivalent test in Sweden. Meaning.... All cars that have been tuned in Germany and recieved new TüV where it says the car is modified are considered altered. Therefore manufacturer standards are altered and the car needs to be certified again. Since Rüf, RS, TechArt etc etc... doesn't test their cars for our regulations, all those cars can't be registered here. All modifications needs to be done either in Sweden or without being noted in the papers. Of course this mean the same thing the other way around. So no Swedish tuners go in to the Tuner GP (only two-three who can compete). Same thing for several others. So this event is a bit limited to those who have business in Germany. On the other hand, if you're serious then you have business there. Except non-european tuners obviously..

Rassel, Thanx for that information. Now I know why the swedish guys only buy the non modified cars over here. So there are a lot of nice unmoded GT2 for sale...
As an alternative you could register the car in Germany if you want a RS or RUF car.

Rassel,
Of course you're in Sweden!!........Just don't laugh too hard, your memory might become worse than mine in 15 years
Interesting info, there is an open category where TUV is not required as well, it is very competitive.

Very informative post on TUV. There is no truth in advertising here in the USA, and many tuners spend far more in hype than product, as we well know.
