Car feels slow on lowend, before boost ? help...
Hi all-
My TT feels somewhat underpowered before it gets on full boost. Other people who have driven it got the same impression.
Or, what i mean is that it seems to take a longer time until it gets to full boost. It does hit 0.7 bar but not until past 4500 rpm - i know the digital boost gauge is not very accurate.
The car is stock with LWFW, new diverter valves, and new valve covers.
any obvious issues or things to check?
would a bad O2 sensor be enough to effect this? i had the left O2 sensors switched out, but it seemed the fault code was still in the computer (no CEL).

Damage to your compressor wheels or turbine wheels will definately give you late/delayed boost. Full boost at 4500 RPM is not correct.
You can also have a sluggish wastegate actuator.. What's the overall health of your engine?
What are your leakdown figures?
Have you replaced your MAF?

When should i hit full boost? (i have not driven other TT's back to back)
Engine has 44k and was told to be in good condition.
Had leakdown & compression done last spring (april 05) and the shop said they where fine (i dont have the #'s handy).
I have not replaced the MAF.
How does one test wastegate actuators?

Steve, ive had the upgraded diverter valves for almost 2 years, so i dont think that is it. Why did you suggest this???

Bypass valves can leak causing a loss of air. You also need to start checking your hoses from your BOV and other connections. These hoses are prone to split which will be constantly dumping your boost.

bump.
this was my first thread when i realized my car took waaay too long to make full boost. guess its not bad gas.
in short, the car makes 0.5 bar when i stomp on it and slowly adds to 0.6 0.7.
i never see 0.7/0.8 before 4000 rpm in any situation.
