Yes, the seats fit fine, but you need Brey-Krause side brackets (R-9079 and R-9078, see www.bkauto.com) in order to lower them to normal height. I used the generic Recaro flat sliders without height adjustment. It may be possible to use the factory sliders (that is, the ones that come with the GT3 seats) with B-K side mounts, but I didn't try.
I've had mine only a short time, but I've found them quite comfortable for daily use. The seat is not nearly as deep or restrictive as a Recaro SPG I have in another car, so it's a good compromise for a street car or for occasional track use.

I would add one suggestion, and that is to use Loctite on all the bolts. You are still able to remove the bolts whenever you'd like, but they will not loosen from vibration when you use Loctite.

The 996 sport seats sit too high in a 993. Even when all the way down, they are higher than a 993 seats all the way up. There is also not way to shorten them to fit properly.

I would also add, don't even consider re-using the OEM allen bolts used to secure our seats. Frankly they suck and you have to be very careful you don't round out the head, they are strong enough but the heads are too soft. (ask me how I know) Hardened steel ones can be found at most hardware stores. I will also add that sometimes the shoulders of these wider seats can touch the door itself. I used sparcos and had to shim-up one side so it wouldn't touch too bad.

GT3 seats in 993tt
Here are some pictures of my car...
Plenty of clearance to the door:
And they're fairly close together in the middle, but overall they fit perfectly.
