I am just worried at cost! I already am gonna have $2k into it...and dont have much more! If this ends up being a long job (to shorten these things) then I am gonna go broke!

Tom,
Is there is a remote chance you can make molds out of it ??? That way you can recoup some money for more goodies, any good fiberglass/body shop should be able to do it, I will be the first in line for these, of course!, cheers, Sonny.

Leon,

I'd like more details of how the alum protection bar needs to be modified. I ask because my car came with the tow hook receptacle thing missing out of that bar... and I can't figure out how that may have happened. If someone took the bar off to shorten it, that may explain the mystery. BTW, a Rennlister gave me a recepticle, and it fits just fine. It was just one of those mysteries that has been bugging me.

On another topic... any further thoughts about Paypal? Please let me know either way.

Definitely go for it. After install, let's get together and compare notes.

I don't think I have genuine RUF bumpers, just RS splitters that RUF installed. Would love to see which RUF version you have.

You should first make sure if they are real Ruf bumpers they will have a Ruf part # and tag on the inside moulded into fiberglass. If they are some so-so knock offs then maybe you should give it a second thought. Whatever you do...MOUNT THEM UP AND MAKE THEM FIT BEFORE PAINTING THEM!

LA964RS: Just an FYI: I have real RUF bumpers and the part # is on a metal tab that is rivoted on, not molded on. Just for future reference!

the front aluminium impact bar is simply too long, the bodyshop needs to shave about 3-4" off each side, bear in mind this will have a minor affect on airbag deployment angle.

p.s ruf reinforced and modified this front ctr 2 bumper a couple of years ago (looks exactly the same), i'd go for that one

To save myself some money can I cut my bumperbeam myself? Like if I were to simply cut off 1" from both ends would this be sufficient?

Leon: Also, can you email some hi-res pics of your beauty!?! AdamSinding@Gmail.com and post some here. Your car is the inspiration for why I bought the bumpers. (steve, don't be mad, yours was too, but the black beauty really was the catalyst!)

I don't think the bumpers are fiberglass. I think they are made of a plastic/urethane material.

I believe Ruf says they are a Kevlar compound... I dunno... they feel like beefy fiberglass.
