I pulled mine out myself and had Kevin rebuild them....not too difficult (I am no mechanic), cheaper than buying new, and I like to think Kevin's rebuilds are tighter than out of the box OEMs....in and out for under 2000 USD............plus you get to know your car and can brag to your friends at the nail salon...or wherever you hang out........my .02

$2000-4500
depends on the options you choose.
Widely debated, My stage 2's from Kevin worked well (k-16 based),
There are k-24 based turbos thru others that work well also.

Evening

No need to replace the blowers if you use a pukka turbo shop, just rebuild them.

I had both mine rebuilt (when the car was standard) for around £800 - £1k sterling by an english KKK agent.

Thanks

MOD.

New turbochargers are $1,677.00 each

Rebuilt K16's with new KKK cartridges (center sections) are $1,095 and up depending if you need actuators..

Rebuilding them is less, but lately I have been having to update the bearing housings to the 996TT, due to severe corrosion. Colorado, Washington, Oregon, East Coast.. Snow melt chemicals really are hard on these units..

Thank you all for your great help. That is reassuring. Somehow, I always thought that this would be aa 10K US$ job. Should the turbos be replaced at an everage mileage, i.e once the car hit 70K Miles.

I have now a C2S that Im thinking to trade for the T.

One can always perform a scheduled rebuild when one would do a major service such as a clutch change. However, most failures will be a result of worn or burnt seals vs bearing wear which will lead to wheel rub. There really isn't a set mileage that the turbochargers will fail. On 993TT, failure is a directly related to heat and abuse from hot shutdowns..
