Hi Simon,

I'm a newbie here and am going for a '96 if its PPI is ok. However this is what Promotive has to say about beginners level mods to them:
The difference in years is that the 95-96's are One Time Programmable (OTP) and the 97-98's are Flashable. So, for the earlier cars we either have to replace the ecu with a 97-98 ecu (about $1400.00), or put in a special adapter ($600.00) so they are then programmable.
If you are purchasing only parts from us, the recal on the ecu is $995.00, w/g controller is $425.00, 5.0 bar regulator is $230.00, and air filter is sub $50.00, and we'd recommend the muffler bypass tips as well.

There are supposed to be orange tubes on the '97 which one can fit to a '96. So basically if you can get a '97 in your prefered colors and required miles, go for it. If not, a '96 can be upgraded to '97 spec for approximately the difference in price between the two vintages.

Senior Rennlisters, thanks for you comments on Promotive's suggestions.

Cheers,

/Vic

Trj,

Kevin has been looking for 1996 ECUs. He is a sponsor here. www.UltimateMotorWerks.com, or something like that.
