Hood Emblem = accident ?
Hi guys,
The TT in question is supposed to have never had any accident or paint work. However I noticed that the seller purchased a Hood emblem a month ago:
Does this necessarily mean that he hit something? It seems unlikely that it would come off during acceleration...

Three Wheelin'
?? Naah. I think he just wanted to rejuvinate some areas of the car. Almost anyone can change out the Porsche shield, and I would do it just to give it some umph prior to a sale. The cleaner...well, if it gives it a fresh odor, then why not....don't specifically think it was bought because of pet dander or doodoo. Anyway, if you look under the carpets at nooks and crannys you can see if there are animal hairs etc.,
my two cents. Jaime

In a lot of places, punks steal the emblems off cars. The hood emblem on my GT2 broke off when I gently closed the lid. The stud that goes through the hood broke off. Stuff happens.

My emblem has a big chunk missing out of it, probably just a rock from the road. I wouldnt worry about it. If it puts your mind at ease, you can have a local body shop look at the car and let you know.

If you are worried, open the hood.
Look for the option sticker. It should be under the hood, sticked very tight to it. If it has big air bubbles in, it could have been removed.
Lift the front mat, look if everything is fitting correctly and check if the paint is done correctly.
Check if the hood have any marks from standing on the floor.

Thanks for reassuring me guys. I think you're probably right, I am just having big ticket anxiety. Putting on a new hood emblem is probably standard practice when detailing a car.

Thanks for the heads up. It actually does have a big air bubble. So I think it probably was once removed and repositioned, possibly onto a new hood. Not a good sign for a car advertised as having had no accidents, unless there were cosmetic scrapes that required a hood repaint. I will have to wait until the PPI and will have an alignment shop run a laser check. At lofty prices it is better to know what you're getting into.
