Default Guess on modded TT weight??

I haven't gotten a chance to weigh baby with all mods yet... but I know Tb/jean/Leon/Vbob/others may have a good guess...

here are some factors... and a guess at delta

full 2wd conversion -120?
power seats/belts out, replaced with recaro fixed back/schroth/b-k alloy harness bar... - 50-70?
996tt hollows same?
SS headers, no heat , no cats -60-70?
SS relatively small muffler(single) -20-35?
Twinplug distr.. (offset by alloy for spark plug holes drilled ;-)..)
Garretts/tials-- less plumbing... gravity fed oil system(no scavenge)-10-20?
CC LWF and clutch/disc -30-40?
Alloy IC.. shoulda weighed seperately...

minor, dual crane cdi's, front brace,

thoughts?? THANKS!!

Ed

They seem like good estimates. The 4WD system was around 45Kgs.

I am sure Todd can tell you how much the engine weighs, I have never thought about it in fact. I am lighter than you because I don't have the MAF also

I would go to your local corner balance shop to find out. Didn't get a chance to do some timed runs yet? Let us know!! I am very curious to see how wild that thing is.
Vamos!

i came in at 3085 with a 1/4 tank of gas. i have removed the back seats, airbag steering wheel, front seats replaced with SPG Recaros, removed: trunk carpet, CD changer, some sound deadening, went to BBS mags, carbon fiber front GT2 splitter, lighter Alcon rotors, removed OEM mufflers, and some other bits.

How much would you save on replacing doors, hood and rear windscreen?

Thanks folks! .. I really want to get sub 3000.. we'll see...

Jean, .. you have those big ugly turbos weighing you down :-)..

no filmed runs yet... no one would believe me... :-)... interesting issues in cold weather... I can launch well since I can spin tires at low rpm's because of new MPS's and cold.. and all the extra(cold) power.... without much strain on drivetrain... so it gets to rpm's I want quickly, and then hooks up very quickly if I'm careful ... trade-offs... what's the power weight calculator say for 600ish crank HP-540 ftlbs and 3240lbs (with me) in qtr??

so it will be interesting to see when it gets warmer when I won't risk hard starts, so no wheelspin...but less power... presumably slower 0-xx...

Andy, I assume youre 2wd??

3150 with 3/4 tank

I had my car down to 2840 with a rollbar. You have to do a lot to get there, but I was still able to keep my stereo and A/C.....

Few more items

RS door panels. Saves 45 lbs
Remove rear seats / belts and wiper - saves about 20 lbs.
Remove muffler and use muffler bypass - you say you have small muffler, but you will still loose 25-30 lbs
Remove windshield washer reservoir and replace with RS - saves 15 lbs (plastic and washer fluid)
Bigger front brakes - Brembo GT setup saves 10 lbs per corner (rotor and caliper/pad weight)
Carbon fiber hood - saves 35 lbs
Light battery - saves 23 lbs
no spare tire / tools /etc - save 30+ lbs
Remove from and rear crash bumpers (a little more of a risk) saves 30 lbs
Install carbon fiber rear decklid - save 25-35 lbs depending on what you have and what you replace it with

Should we continue?

Muffler bypass, removing the 12way heated seats and replacing w/sparcos & 5 point, spare tire/tools, engine under tray, floor mats, dry cell battery and front trunk carpet saved me 190lbs. Anyone can do what I did above at reaonable costs.

To go further cost a heck of a lot more for the most part. A driver diet costs nothing however !!

.. damn.. the diet route does sound the most cost effective... I got an easy 30 to go there.... no more 'road hugging weight'... :-)

I have found it much easier to buy a carbon fiber hood to save 35 lbs than loosing it... Instant gratification... Got to luv it
