Default Tire Opinions Needed!!

I will be getting new tires soon, what is the best tire for our TT's? I have never tracked my car just spirited back road driving.

Unless you drive in heavy rain or a lot of miles, I think you would enjoy the Michelin Sport Cup R compound tires. The nice thing is, tires are a frequent change item so you can switch the next time if you don't like one.

i have michelin pilot sport 2's.... they're great, but very soft and expensive. that said, since my car is practically my daily driver i am probably going to go with some pirelli's next time.. little less expensive and probably no noticalble difference on the street. i am running 235's and 295's on 8.5's an 11's.

Had good experience with both Michelin and Pirellis. Personally I think the Mechlin is slightly in advantage. But perhaps as EThec said, they might be to soft.

I have found Continental Sport Contact 2 to be a good all round tyre - very good in wet and extremely grippy in the dry. I previously had P-zeros on that made the car feel very nervous in the wet, but had superior dry over the Conti's.

Depends on your climate I suppose

FYI-The had Pirelli Corsas (r) at a close-out price when I purchased. I don't expect them to last more that 1000 street miles in combination with 3-5 DE days if lucky. MPSC will be tried next. Following 911/Q45s line of thinking. If you don't track your car and/or have only the factory specs with respect to toe/camber I personally don't think you need r's even with spirted back road driving. MPS2 would be ok and you would see longer life

I have been using SO2's and they have been fine. One of our knowledgeable ones who is no longer here said the SO2A's are a better replacement We'll see next time.

Pirelli Corsas are working great on my car. They don't seem to have any of the negatives normally associated with an "R" compound tire except the short tread life. They are comfortable, quiet, confident and even are decent in cooler temps, although you should always be very careful driving a summer tire in winter temps, regardless of street or race compound.

Default N-rating?

Hi

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but can someone explain the n-rating system to me?

I too am looking at new tyres for my TT - it has the stock rims on it. I have opted for the Pirelli's because the fronts are still ok, so just the rears are being replaced... and I currently have P0's.

However, the tyres on the car at the moment are n4 rated, and the guy at the shop told me n3's are a better compound and longer wearing with just as much grip?

Any comments?

Really not a good idea to replace only the rear tires.

Stay away from bridgestone so3's they're extremely noisy on the street.
