Default Salvage value?????

Guys,
I have an opportunity to pick up a 1996 993TT. Eleven K miles before it crashed. Long block, tranny, brakes are all in good useable condition.Body is totally gone but much of the running gear as well as some instruments are good for a project car. Any clues about value?

Cheers

Engines range from 15K to 25K typically one will pay 20K for a decent engine.
Gearboxes range from a low of $2,500 to 4,500.. Big reds are $800-1,200

Default RE: Long Block

The car was BADLY damaged when a tire blew out going 195MPH. There is not much left that is useable, however, engine, trans, brakes are OK. The crash destroyed everything on top of the engine (intake system, alternator, etc) so it has to be considered a “long block.” The stock seats/door panels and some other misc interior stuff was not in the car at the time so it now will go with the car. Same applies to stock exhaust system and fuel tank. The Recaro seats, RS door panels, etc are still there but damaged to varying degrees.

It's hard to believe that anything in the drivetrain could be undamaged when it was red hot and flying, then literally came to a screeching halt. I'd give it a pass at any price.

I'd be curious to see pix of the damage.

Any signs of strong lateral impact to the rear wheels means the transmission is probably damaged.

Hate to think what it would have looked like without the cage!

Steve, Yes, it is my "old car." Fortunately I was able to replace it a couple years ago with an identical one we had built for a customer when it came up for sale -- same cage/mods/etc. Unfortunately that hulk was "untouchable" for years due to litigation. After having to store it and see it every day for all those years I'm happy to say I can now get rid of it and some of its memories !!
