Default Thank You Kevin

Kevin did a rebuild of my factory Ruf turbos after a disastrous failure at an open road event. I was a bit skeptical about doing the ZC mod but Kevin did the ZC part also.
Finally picked up the Ruf car and drove back to Orange County from Las Vegas. After following a well written breakin procedure I got to play a bit in the late evening, light traffic roads.

The factory Ruf car has never been so healthy! Wow so totally responsive. Response was "good" before, now it is great. I will drive big Willow Tuesday..was going to run my 06 Z06 but, forget that now! Ruf..Ruf..Ruf!

Thanks Kevin.

Cheers

Roland, Thanks.. The Z/C definately allows the engine to come on boost sooner, thus the throttle response.. I'm going ask you to give us your impression of your two cars New Z06 vs RUF.. What a write up.. Z06 vs RUF vs GT2 vs 965.. at Willows..

Default Compare Kevin?

The factry Ruf and the Z06 should not be compared. They are two very different animals, albeit very cool animals.

Ruf is quicker at both top end and low end. Ruf is a *hands* car and to me the Z06 is an *elbows* car. Ruf brakes better (it should with Pagid Yellows) and it is far easier to drive.I have only taken the Z car to 160 mph but at that "low" speed it is not really comfortable on any road that is not really smooth. The Ruf and the M5 are! Again,I should not be comparing...also I really need a lot of seat time to learn to "drive" the Z car. Even my M5 feels "better" which says I really don't know how to drive the Z car.

Having said all that I must say the 06 Z06 is one hell of a car. I absolutely love it. I have run the *** off more than a few so called hot cars and I love it. I really don't street race so I can't say too much about "kills."
I do plan to mod the Z car. Brakes, suspension, roll bar, safety equipment and maybe another 75 rwhp. And I shall air it out a couple of open road race events next year. I shall report fully on the open road race experiences.

The RUF turbochargers are based on the K16 turbine side. That is where thing end/change.. They sport large compressor wheels and extensive porting...

Hi Roland,

Glad to hear about your new improved RUF turbo. I must say that Kevin is top-notch. I also bought a high-flow (stage 1) K-27 turbo from him for my BTR (mine was leaking and needed rebuilt) and boy is that nice.

Just curious, how many miles on your turbo when it failed? and did you figure out the cause for failure?

Thanks and happy holidays.
