Default Extreme Tire Wear?

Do I need my car realigned?
My rear tires are S02 's and when i had them off i noticed extreme wear on the insides and the outsides had much more life on them. The camber settings are -1.5 (rear) and toe is 1.5mm (rear). The front camber is -0.5 and front toe is 0.5mm.
The tires have 10k miles on them. im not complaining about the 10k of useage, but if the wear pattern seems extreme. The car is mostly street with about 8 track days a year.
I just had the tires replaced after another 1k (11k in total).
See the pics below .. the insides are worn to the cords but the outsides are not even down to the wear markers.

My S02's didn't look that bad, although I didn't leave them on that long. I wasn't really impressed with those tires but to your point....I think your fine.

What settings do you use on your PSS 9 kit? As I have noticed different types of tyre wear (mostly on track) depending on how you stiffen / soften them up.

Your wear looks something like mine when I set everything near full on stiff for track use.

my pss9 are set to 4 (middle) on all 4 struts. The TRG sway bars are both set at middle.
I felt the car was a bit too easy to rotate and other people (better drivers) have said it is very difficult to drive.

The first 2 pics is the inner edge and the last pic is the outer edge.

I was editing this statement last night as John D. pulled the plug for maintenance.

I would add that you should get your camber checked at the least as it can & does change as the tires wear. With this new set of tires I suspect you will do that and. Personally I would have more camber in the front but to each his own.

Usually tire wear is more toe related than camber, especially in the rear.

Is my toe not correct? Why is tire wear more toe related?

My rear tyres (S02A's) lasted 6000 miles (maybe european compound is different?) of road driving (it's my daily driver). Evenly worn all the way across though...

If set up properly, you can run a lot of negative camber and still not destroy your tires for street driving. Where you run into trouble is running a lot of negatve camber plus too much toe. If you do this then you then your contact patch (reduced by the negative camber) will not be rolling forward but skipping a little sideways on every rotation. THis leads to exactly what you have Rob. I ran -3 degrees negative camber in front and -2.7 rear and with over 5000 miles on a pair of Pilot Sports, they looked almost brand new. I run a total toe in for the front of about 1/32" or .08 and .11 a side or .22 total in the rear.

VBob - see my settings at the top of the post.
Is this why my car tends to overrotate at the track? a few better drivers have driven it and said it is hard to drive.

can you guys recommend a good camber and toe setup for my car. One that will be fine for street with good tire wear as well as 8-10 track days on S02's.

seems my toe was off.

This is what happened when I let my rear tires (SO2s) go beyond 4-5K miles.... Never again. The tire blew at 110MPH and we spun spun spun. I was very fortunate to merely have to replace the wheel. I have had other flats from nails, etc. and because of the low profile it is very difficult to even know you have a flat. However when you let tread wear go too far, the tire will disintigrate at speed. Not good, trust me.

What was your toe setting ?? and where were you at on your camber ??

I stated earlyer that I thought your were fine based on how much mileage and the amount of days your had on the track with those tires.

I struggled with these same questions a few weeks ago and found little info to help on the 993tt search I did to confirm any rule of thumb as to/camber & toe settings. Numbers were all over the place and I felt after alot of searching that only I could determine the proper balance between street and track. I'm willing to do alittle experimenting on my new set-up and I have it fairly neutral. Only about 25% of my overall mileage is on the track.

Frnt Camber @-1.4/ toe @ 0.04 Rear Camber @-1.9/ toe 0.18. I dialed in more camber from where I was w/S02's. Unfortunately I have to wait until next springs DE to see how it feels with this and new Corsa's. If I have to, I'll change it again. In the end, trying to balance out tire wear with track handling isn't an easy task I suspect.

While others said "your car was difficult to drive" on the track, 10k miles from a set of tires w/8 track days is pretty easy on the wallet.
