Default Eratic when in Boost!!

My TT started running strange a few days ago it seems fine until boost kicks in then it bucks and sometimes it sounds like its backfiring. It doesn't do this all the time it just seems to do it more often when i am in a higher gear 3RD or 4TH i dont seem to notice it much in lower gears. Could the MAF sensor be the problem?

Thanks,
Paul

Sounds like exactly what mine did with a bad MAF sensor. Could also be loose plugs or bad plug wires. 3rd or 4th load up the engine enough that any ignition malfunction will show up there first on boost. Old distributor cap and rotor could contribute also.

I am replacing the MAF this weekend. Anyone know about how long this should take?

Less time than removing the intercooler and air filter box to get to it. Maybe 1 hour total, including curiosity time spent poking around.

Guys,

I second what Don just mentioned.. MAF, plugs, plug wires, coil, cap and rotor.. They need to be replaced.

Changed the MAF Sensor today, wow what a difference the car runs great. Not difficult to install but I think if there were a good CAI available it would make sense to get rid of that air box, it's a pain.
