Rob,

Ignacio is exactly right... unless the turbo install takes too long, not only will I not be able to compare Rufus to "Waldo plus", but I won't be able to compare Waldo "before & after". And sadly, Ignacio won't either. This would be an interesting data point, but for Ignacio's sanity, I hope the turbo install goes off without a hitch. After talking to Kevin, it seems that "waldo plus" should be pretty close to Rufus... close enough that a butt-o-meter may not be able to tell much difference.

ca993twin: Steve it's good to know that 'Waldo Plus' won't get beat down by 'Rufus'. It would be nice if we could do a comparison run. We will have to wait and see.

Is "Rufus" the same spec motor as Bill S's Ruf ? If yes then is it as fast as Bill's ? There is no way a 993tt with the mods you have listed (Waldo) would be in the same ball park as Bill's Ruf - what am I missing

TB993tt: If 'Waldo' isn't as fast as 'Rufus' that is fine with me. It will still be plenty quick. I can't comment on 'Rufus' since it isn't my car. You can follow the link http://www.autobahntech.com/ to learn about 'Rufus' which may or may not answer your questions.

Thanks For the link - very interesting, so "Rufus" looks like it has the full Turbo R motor I will be fascinated to see if it is as fast as Bill's but judging by the comments about it feeling similar to "Waldo" it would seem not - please keep us posted, I am very interested to find out, as I have always suspected that Bill S actually has an untypically fast Turbo R. See Bill's video: http://24.94.0.103/~bills/rufaccelout.avi

TB993tt,

My comments are only that I "suspect" Waldo plus will be close to rufus... I hate to even discuss HP numbers without the dyno sheets, but I would suspect Waldo will be near 475 flywheel with the GT1 turbos, the hearder mod, the ECU, and perhaps with muffler bypasses. Of course, I'm guessing. Rufus should be a minimum of 490 flywheel, perhaps 500 or so. I'm just not sure my lame butt would be able to tell the difference, and I'm not confident that we'll ever be able to compare them. I will say that Rufus feels very, very strong in my few "freeway onramp" tests.

IMO you should not be comparing Ruf 490/510hp with guesswork Rennlist hp
My motor with full house Stage 3s, cams, cats, twin plug managed 471hp with a not specifically programmed for Stage 3s ECU so the notion that Waldo can beat that figure with smaller turbos and stock cats is a bit far fetched - With a generic Gemball ECU I would guess nearer 440 Ruf comparable hp - still a nice improvement on stock and a nice fat torque curve.

TB993tt: Steve was only making a comment. It wasn't a cold hard fact. If it isn't as fast as Ruf Turbo R I could care less. It is a beautful car nonetheless. If I want I may move forward with a ECU program from ImagineAuto to bring those numbers up.

Would that be you could'NT care less ?
Guys, this is the 993tt Rennlist Technical Forum and discussing hp and various hp claims versus actual on road performance is what it is about
I am seriously interested whether Bill S's Ruf is a particularly fast example, it helps me justify money I have spent and helps me enjoy the whole tuning experience. ?
BTW from the photos both your cars are exceptionally beautiful congrats
