Final report on my Andial 3.8 upgrade. The ECU swap did not fix the problem, so I had to make the trip down to Andial. They consulted the codes, thrown chicken bones and a Rorschach blot to conclude I had a bad MAF sensor. I was skeptical, but went with the experts and was rewarded with a perfect track day yesterday. Unbelievable power, especially in 4th and 5th, 20mph more on the big straights!

What were the msytery clunks. I have had this before with both a Ruf and an H&R suspension on two different TTs. Dealer convinced me on both cars that it was just common occurence with after market coil over kits and said no big deal.

My new TT with PSS9s does not have a clunk. Just curious what makes that clunk.

Worn CV joints on the halfshafts made the clunks.

Yeah, I have had CVs go out on older Porsches before. My clunking from the suspension was different and was coming from the coil overs during hard accelleration (not on intial takeoff) and was very infrequent. Maybe happen once a month, but it was a pop sound in the quarter panel region.

That happens when the coil winds up during it's normal operation and then suddenly releases. Washers on the PSS9s prevent that by allowing the coil to rotate without binding. Newer Ruf suspensions use the washers.

I did have a loose sway bar mount on the PSS-9s that let the link rotate and make a clunk like you describe.

Ah, an obviously reliable ferrari for track days. It might be a little fragile with my driving style.
