I couldn't get a good read on the brakes yet with the uncertain power application. They seemed to work well and the Orange pads aren't too squeaky. After thinking about it overnight and calming, I believe that the ECU program is flawed in the part that shuts off the fuel flow when the throttle closes at high rpm. With any luck this can be cleared up without a trip south.

Let me know what they tell you. Mitch just ordered the upgrade ECU for my car (same one you have) to replace the Theliert (sp) ECU (history of failing and no OBDII). Thanks.

Q45 & Dan,
Did andial have you new motors on their engine dyno, if yes do you have any info you can share. Re the new ECU, is it Motronic, do you have any idea where it is from and where and by whom the programming was done ?
Thanks

My partner had the engine done, so I don't know if it was on the dyno. The paperwork makes no mention. I will check with Mitch. The new DME is a Bosch unit with a single pump-gas circuit (the Thielert DME has two circuits--pump and 104 for the track). According to Mitch, the Bosch unit comes preprogrammed from Germany. Andial did not disclose who does the programming. BTW, the pump-gas circuit is the 570HP one. The track circuit with 104 octane jumps it to 630, I think. I dont need that and want to have full funtion and OBDII so I am having the change made in August.

This is bad news for me, as Germany means it will take a long time to get a fresh fixed program.

Willie Brombecker engineers at FVD programed the bosch unit with the andial perameters from the Thielert ecu. The 3.8 twin plug on 91 octane is putting out 570 hp. The 3.6 twin is around 550 hp.
The new ecu has improved driveability. All the factory obd2 and stuff works like a stocker.

As soon as the new Zo6's hit the streets I'll plug in my thielert back in. You never know when you might need it.

I got a ride in Don's car at Thunderhill. The cutting out is definitely weird, but when its running the old butt dyno says the car is pretty darn fast. I got back in my car and going up the hill to turn 9 seemed to take forever. That's taking into account the fact that Don is a way better driver than me.

Just got a replacement ECU from Andial this morning and the problem appears to be fixed. I wrung it out as thoroughly as I could without drawing rifle fire from residents along the rural highway. The true test will be a week from Friday when I'm back at the track. Andial was very responsive and evidently the program is OK, just bad luck with one ECU from FVD. They'll send it back and I'll let you know what they find and how things go at the track next week.

I never time myself at the track, just have fun and try to improve. My old ECU and Turbo S cooler are still for sale as are my Big Red brakes. Check the classifieds.
