Default Europipe 993tt exhaust

I know that Europipe's 996tt and GT3 exhaust systems are well regarded so I thought I'd inquire (hey - what does an email cost?) as to whether they made one for our cars. The answer was not now but they used to. So my question is - has anyone ever heard/seen their 993tt system and if so, what does it sound like and is it worth trying to track down a used one?

Doug,

Do you have any links? I have read about it on the 996TT forum some time back, and would like to check them just out of pure curiosity.

Jean - sorry but the Europipe website has no information about 993 systems. It was just an email from them that stated that they no longer made such. I was hoping one of our European breathren might know more. Besides, doesn't your car go too fast to hear the exhaust anyway?

Doug,

I am just curious They seem to be very nicely done. I don't think they would be any better than the Cargraphic though which have been tried and tested for years.

I am with Jean on the Cargraphic being THE best for the 993tt. Regarding the 996tt, Cargraphic in partner with their fabricators, Phoenix (UK based) and RS Tuning developed the 996tt exhaust on the RS dyno, it gave around 20PS extra on the engine dyno on a stock engine. The guys at phoenix told me that they sold a lot initially but then other tuners copied the design and offered cheaper "me too" products. I am not inferring that the Europipe 996tt offerrings are poor quality products, far from it. It is interesting whose design they (and the other good ones ) followed. The Europipe is the reverred system on the 6blingonline forum, but my guess is that no one there has tried and promoted the Cargraphic whereas the Europipe has good dyno sheets a DB numbers on their web site - very good marketing and the noisy 6blingers have pointed the way to go

Have not founded a 993TT Europipe exhaust, and I've looked around

This is very funny!!

TB, can you for once not have ALL the facts? The good quality of most Cargraphic products is definitely their partnership with RS Tuning.

Hope you are having nice weather down there.

Default exhuast systems...

If I may throw in my $.02 worth, The stock porsche headers (heat exchangers) are very
good up to a certain point, and even better if they have been ported and polished on the
insides (mine were done by Kevin). These will take us a long way up the horsepower ladder.
Cats: in minnesota you can run cat bypass or 100 cell cats, either way you may want to buy
used because cats alone can cost $2600 us not including labor. Mufflers: boy I dont know
if I should even speak but dfarrow you may have an opportunity to hear my "RSR" mufflers
this weekend which I have retained stock porsche tips. My understanding is that the cargraphic
mufflers are very good as well as fabspeed maxflo mufflers latest design with the black slip
clamp which keeps overall mimimum diameter larger than most mufflers that use stock
porsche clamps. IMHO

Well the Cargraphic 996TT muffler uses 200 cell cats and 60mm tubing while the Europipe has 100 cells and 70mm tubing. Guess which one will have the lowest backpressure !

Guessing seems to be the preffered mode of tuning to some people.
The original Cargraphic cat/muffler set which was developed with RS Tuning part#CARP96TETR Is engine dyno proven to add 23PS when fitted to a 485PS ECU/BMC filter equipped engine (with the ECU again re-optimsed on the engine dyno) and I believe similar increases to Europipe on a stock engine - I don't know the validity of your claims on the #cells in the cats or the tube diameter but hope they are accurate since the evidence seems to point otherwise, unless the specification of the system C/G sell now has changed since the original was specified and tested ?

I'm going to be the first one here to stir the pot even more.. I have been watching this debate for years about 100 cell vs 200 cell vs 400 cell.. It is not apples to apples.. You need to consider the length X diameter in the equasion. Not all 100 cell cats are equal. And in theory you could have a better 200 cell cat (less backpressure) if the diameter of the cell was larger and shorter than a 100 cell unit..

Marc,

What would stop Cargraphic from using 200 cell cats and a 70mm ID pipe? Margins? It is not like no one has access to suppliers!!! Cargraphic are certainly much more financially capable than Europipe and have the right partnership for R&D. So it is not as simple as you described it.

Kevin and TB said it all above.
