Default If you were looking for the world's best 993TT...

...where would you go? What would be your "must haves" and "must avoids"?

Suggestions on a post card, please.

This is easy. I want a 97 (or a 96 that has a 97 ECU and first gear shaft) and as many carbon/al bits as you can find but they arent important. I want the suspension to be taken care of because these cars are 10 years old. If its low miles then the shocks are old and if it had over 20K the shocks are shot. SO a PSS9 or JIC setup for street and track. Thats a must. Sway bars need to be replaced if the suspension is done. Upgrading the ECU is easy no muss fuss for an extra 50-80HP depending on gas oct/ and program. Billet diverters are a must now because the cheap stock plastic ones are now 10 year old plastic. Some nice litewieght wheels with the originals intact for track(two sets). IF it came with Kevins Zero Clearance Ceramic coated Hybrid turbos with associated ECU programs I would be in pure bliss AND if it came with a larger Intercooler to handle the extra heat from the 550-600HP that Kevins setup created I would have died and gone to heaven.
Once this happens you'll have to have GT3 seats and restraining gear for your 5-6point harnesses and you my friend are done!!
Stereos, tinted windows, sports seats are all bling bling and dont add to the experience. Kinda like a fancy label on a fine cigar.

Auxillary oil cooler, boost gauge and a 3 spoke steering wheel are things I would look for as well.

Rob I am in the middle. I got 4 choices I think
Keep mine continue down the path of enlightenment
Sell mine and save for a 997GT3
sell mine and try to talk my wife into a 996Gt3
Wait 4 years and pay off some bills (my truck) and buy a 997GT3(this related to #1)

Addison good additions I forgot the cooler because I spent so much time thinking about it
I assume I have done it which I have not.

Paul, the way I see it, here is your only choice.

It sounds to me that you are not sold on the 996GT3 because you cannot decide between it and a 997GT3 in the future. It sounds like you have a serious case of "grass is greener on the other side" syndrome. (Don't worry, there is no charge because I am not a shrink, I just stayed at a Holiday Inn).

So, the logical choice is to keep yours because you have put so much into it and ultimately, we will never be able to realize the potential of our own cars anyways, unless your name starts with a V, ends in a B and has IPERBO in the middle.

And if the 997GT3 blows you away when it arrives, you can still sell your for about the same in a few years and get it.

Good luck my friend!

I don't think GT3 seats look right in a 993, and I don't care for ornamental carbon fiber, but other than that, our high desert friend has pretty much covered it.

It all depends upon what you mean by the "best". The lowest mileage, most original, rarest, fastest, best looking...

In a perfect world, and I had Bill Gate's money, I would get a low mileage, bone stock TTS, as this would be the most collectable of the TT range, and keep it on display in my 100 car garage. Then I would buy VB's 700hp car to toodle around town and the track. And then I would buy...

Paul,
550-600 without modding internals?????............Really now lets not get carried away!
Scott, I am assuming you like my Pole Positions! I love the carbon fiber, aluminum stuff but don't feel it is necessarily better or worse to have or not have them.

Bob drove me home from the shop the other day. The car is running very sweetly now as Bob worked out a few kinks! That is one badass ride!

We made 620 rwhp on stock internals, stock heads.

620 at the wheels with stock internals! Holy schmoley! What boost were you running?

No question Bob's car is outrageous.

Don't want to digress from the topic, but some of the posts above could be misleading dangerously some readers.

There is nothing that stops you doing those numbers on stock internals, stock heads and head sealing...only for a few seconds, next thing you know you have compression leaks and bent rods or broken/stretched rod bolts at best. I don't think so, but VB has an EBC and "could" make 700 hp at 1.4 bar of boost for a couple of seconds, the difference is that Bob has a workshop and might be waiting anyway to open his engine and needs an excuse to do it.

DON'T try cranking your boost beyond 1Bar it if you plan on keeping your stock engine for a long time.

Perfect 993TT, I don't think there is one, only the one you build your own with every personnally chosen bolt. Not for weak hearts though.

Best, Jean

Stockboost, you seem new to the board, welcome. It would be great if you could give us more details and facts to support this statement? We don't see details in your signature.
Thanks

What would be the first to go on a high power 993TT? Rings? Ring land? Rods? Piston? rod bearings? crank? gaskets?
