Default LW Flywheel....Any regrets???

Not to beat a dead horse but I have STFA and just wanted to get some more current feedback on the LW flywheel. Last time I drove a car with it I did not like it. Stalled it 3 times trying to park it. Is the upside (faster revs) worth living with the downside (stalling, noises, etc)?

You will adapt.. If you are going to track your car, lose the mass/weight..

And if I don't plan to track the car?

It's not a big deal, unless you are parking your car on hills everyday. This issue has been around since the 964.. Our cars have more low end torque out of the hole. If a 964 owner can do it, even with the stalling issue. The 993TT owner can do it.. (and we don't have the stalling issue)..

WELL, I HAVE NOT TRIED MINE YET (AS MY NEW STAGE TWO TURBOS GO IN TODAY!!!!),
BUT I TOOK THE LEAP OF FAITH AND BOUGHT LTWT CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL FROM VIPER BOB.
I WILL ADAPT BECAUSE EVERY TIME I LEAVE MY NEIGHBORHOOD I HAVE AN UPHILL STOPSIGN
WHERE IS MUST TURN LEFT AND JUMP ON 50 MPH HIGHWAY!! IT SOUNDS LIKE I SHOULD HAVE
ADEQUATE HORSEPOWER TO OVERCOME ANY LEFT FOOT DEFICIENCIES!!!

I have the LFY from Viper Bob, I have never stalled it, and I am no Marion Andretti mind you. Point is, I found very little difference in driveability. All the horror stories I heard about your car stalling when the a/c is running have proven untrue as well.

The only downside so far is that in stop and go traffic it is just a little, and I stress little bit more difficult. But if your'e in stop and go traffic your not having fun anyway.

Zero difference in clutch pressure. I say go for it.

I might be a Marion Andretti, but not Mario

I don't think I would want the LWF if I were not taking my car to the track regularly. I have the LWF because I was replacing the clutch anyway otherwise I would not go out of my way to do this mod. My .02

What are you going to really gain by having your engine spin up slightly faster? The car already has lots of hp/tq. The stock fly wheel works fine. It is tricky to drive a LWF compared to stock. Yes you can drive it daily but what is the point. If it is one of those "I have a LWF in my car" things fine, but it will not add to your driving enjoyment IMHO.

I had a LWFW in my C2 Turbo and did not like it for street use. I found it required more concentration to drive, especially in hilly B.C. I also did not like how the intertia from the flywheel when shifting from 1st to 2nd was no longer there. It actually seemed like the car lost some torque just after the shift. It's hard to explain, but it was quite clear from the driver's seat.

I really enjoyed it, however, on the track where it made match revving on downshifts a breeze. I personally would not do it on my street 993 Turbo.

I think the type of clutch will have abearing on the operation of the LWFW. I ran an FVD 980 NM clutch with a stock 993GT2 organic disc which (whilst it would slip at peak torque) was very easy to drive. RS just fitted a new clutch, it is a 996 GT2 16000N Pressure plate with a disc No:99611601588. There is quite a difference. Firstly there is no slippage at peak torque. Secondly the clutch is slightly more trigger like although it can be slipped. The third thing surprised me, there is a lot more noise from the transmission at low revs under load - this doesn't really bother me, but it does sound quite agricultural. I believe someone posted about the carbon **** discs which VB is fitting being noisy also.
I understood that the LWFW was essential over a certain power level, not sure exactly what level or why ?
