Default LA Transaxle Gurus?

I had a great time at the track today that ended badly.I missed 3rd gear a couple times today in my haste - at least I think I missed it but it may have just been part of the process of failing. Anyway,it looks like I'm going to need to have it torn down and rebuilt. ViperBob already pointed out that this is another upgrade opportunity........sigh.

So I'm looking for someone in SoCal - cant let my local dealer touch this one. Anyone have the connection?

Try Andial. They have done many. Good time for steel synchros.

Seege, sorry to hear about this. I had the same happening to me and it sucks.

I agree with Jim, I know your car is modified, I would upgrade the synchros, you will end up saving in the long run. While you are at it you might want to explore different gearing options, if you are rebuilding and changing synchros, it will be worth the extra money, which won't be so much more. Just some thoughts, as I am going through the same process.

You might want to try lightweight gears.
Good luck.

Sounds painful CJ but at least you have the right attitude. Your car will be a lot tighter once done.

I forgot to mention that some of the track related shifting problems are due to the soft rear motor mounts which causes the engine to move during cornering. The result is less the positive shift engagements. The upgraded mounts (not the solid ones) work well and improve shifting.

I now have a plan of action: Protomotive will remove the drivetrain next week and they'll fix a noisy lifter and leaky valve cover gasket while a very kind Rennlister will be doing the R&R on the gearbox(is this place great or what?).So it will be a little while before the full extent of damage is known but we're now moving in the right direction. I think the motor mounts are a good suggestion thanks Jay.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Jean your engine looks so awesome. Maybe I can beta test it with my new gearbox.

Seege, I am buying Todd a camera, can't wait

Do the gear ratio changes on your box, you won't regret it. Go 3.154 on first gear, my acceleration scenarios gave amazing results.
