993TTs for sale in today's (11/27) L.A. Times
There are none. Zero. Zippo. Bupkis. Nada. This is about the 8th week in a row without any 993TTs. In fact, there are but two 993s for sale. There are lots of 996TTs for sale, and there is one at Circle Porsche for UNDER $70k. First time I've seen them advertised THAT low!
This may be a good sign for the potential resale value for the 993TTs.

The 993TT is holding its value well. However, there's still plenty changing hands.
See www.cars.com for more 993TTs for sale. Also, Porsche Market Letter (PML) has plenty. Here's a snapshot from www.cars.com...

Though it seems 993s, in general, are doing pretty well, the CEL/carbon thing in the recent mag has scared some folks. All-in-all, though, 993s (NA and tt) hold a lot better than the 996....

Another obvious fact is that a 1996 or 1997 993 TT is going to have a lot of miles on them if even if not used that much. 7 or 8 years at 5,000 miles a year equates to 40K or more miles. And if used normally, they can have 90K plus and thats not high mileage considering its age. But I personally wouldn't want any car with 80K plus miles on it at any price.
A 2001 or 2002 should have much less miles and in my opinion much more of an attractive buy and much less of a risk esp with the certified P warranty.

Others can speak more eloquently about it, and you can find a lot of info by doing a search on carbon build-up. Yeah, a recent Pano or Excellence, can't remember which, but it was old news to folks on this board. You could also search Techron, that would probably pull up some info ont he issue, as well.
All-in-all, sounds to me like it is overblown.
