Has anyone replaced there clock and insterted a boostmeter instead?
Would be great if this could be done in a neat way so you can replace it again with the clock in the future...

Some folks have put the boost gauge in their driver side a/c so as to preserve the clock and its idiot lights

I replaced my clock with a boost gauge. It works out great. I connected the clock with the electrical harness and inserted it into the dash behind the tachometer. I wrapped it with some towels to protect it back there. If you just take the clock out, your will get a TON of warning lights on the rest of the instruments. This way, no issues. If a warning light comes on, I will still have the ! which will accompany it and I can then either look at the clock (take 30 seconds to get at) or I can just read the OBD2 with the computer. All in all, a nice mod....

Sounds like a great idea!
Where did you get your boost gauge? Saw that Ruf uses VDO? Must be available somewhere.

Btw, when you track your car, do you get any problems with the clock bouncing around inthere?

Bob, I wanna do this!! I'll have to look at your car next time. Jeff and I talked about this being one of the mods still to do. What boost gauge did you use?

I got the boost gauge from Performance Products. 0-2 BAR display. Cost was around $230. It is a VDO and fits perfectly with the other gauges. I have no issues with the clock behind the dash. I tucked it down there pretty good.....

Here is a link

DO NOT BUY THE TUBING KIT... $70 and it has a three foot hose and a fitting that does not work with the gauge.

Do you have the p/n? Checked PP out, and "search" comes up empty.

Performance Products says that about everything. Just do the things that I mentioned, and then run a tube back to the engine compartment and you are done. Pretty simple install actually.

Bob, did you tap power off the clock for powering light on the boost gauge? Where did you run the tube to the back of the car?

I wonder if nrauto can duplicate the face of the rest of my gauges on the boost gauge so it matches.

Rassel:

FWIW, if you do on eof these gauges, give a long thought to having one with a tell tail...

I am pretty sure the guage(s) VBob is referencing have a model with a tell tail.

Regards

I bought that tube Bob is talking about and it is a rip-off. Couldn't you post that earlier?

Jim - I do not recommend these with the tell tail. I even think they stopped making them. The problem with the tell tail on these particular guages being mechanical is that the force to move the tell tail needle impacted the real highest point seen by the motor caused by force to move the needle. Also, the ones that were sold by PP used a key to reset back to zero, so kind of a pain.

Jauder - You need to buy a bulb holder for the gauge as it is not inlcuded. I have not done this yet as I do not drive in the dark at all right now. I will get around to it. The bulbholders are just simple ones that could work from an earlier car. Not sure if it needs a 2 or 4w bulb and holder. You could then just splice into the clock or tach lights for power...

Sorry Jean... I'll try to post rip offs sooner
