Default Bought a 96 993 Turbo

I purchased a 96 Turbo a few months ago. Metallic Black with black interior and factory sport seats. It’s quite interesting how it still has that original turbo dna from the 930
and the feel of the 94. I’ve owned two 930’s (86 and 77 plus a 94 3.6 Turbo). Looking forward to having some fun this summer. Currently it had a few gasket leaks so the engine has been removed and things will get sorted nicely. New clutch will be going in since engine is out. Turbokraft’s updated turbo and scavenge pump lines will be done too. Turbos are off to Evergreen (Charlie) for a rebuild.

Suspension will be upgraded to get rid of the Dakar look..lol.

Congratulations! You're going to love it! If it hasn't already been done, I highly recommend some muffler bypass pipes. It will transform the driving experience.

Congrats on the new addition. Where are you having your gasket work performed?

I’m considering a custom exhaust to eliminate the mufflers:-)

Congrats on your purchase. I just finished rebuilding the motor in my car and been using it as a dd. Driving experience is like nothing else out there.

LWF livens up the car.

FVD may still sell 200 cell cats and that is where the sound is going to come from. The crackle from a cold motor start still gets me going. You can do muffler bypass or fister mufflers. My Fister mufflers have a warmer “bark” compared to a bypass. Think there is a 993 turbo muffler FS in the marketplace section so you can keep the original as is. Ruf’s oval tips are a nice touch.

Thank you. I agree, an exhaust is needed for sound.

I took a pair of factory wide ovals and made them into bypass’s. That way they look original and fit the bumper properly. However, I got tired of the bypass sound and just use sport mufflers. Yes, I’m old 😀

Gents I'm looking to do a set of spacers for the stock wheels. I did a search and came out with an understanding of 7mm up front and 15mm in the rear. Just trying to confirm this before placing an order.

Well I’m done for now. Full maintenance including removing engine to replace gaskets and necessary items including a new clutch. Removed the assisted clutch. Pedal feel is much harder but not too bad. I like the way it engages. H&R coilovers with Elephant Racing droplinks plus their bumpsteer tie rod kit. Work performed by Aim Performance, myself and a good friend. Custom muffler bypass by Aim.
