Default price input 97tt

My neighbor is thinking of selling his black/black 97 with 14k miles (15k service done). This is a primo car - he is far more **** about his cars than I'll ever be. Options are heated seats, drivers lumbar support and wheels have factory painted black centers.

What would be a fair price between friends/neighbors?

dfarrow,

I was recently in the market for a '97 and I would think you and your friend could both come out OK in the $70-75k range for that car. Your friend might be able to do even better considering the low mileage, primo condition and good colors. On the other hand, you can find a good 30k mi. example somewhere else for $65-70k if you watch and wait. If you're not going to pamper it, you don't really need to start with something so pristine.

Even with friends, make sure you put the car through a good inspection!

Good luck.

If you don't bite on this, will you keep some of us that are looking up to date and give us a shot at it if he is selling.

In a private sale, I'd say $70-75K

From a dealer, that car would be in the low 80's.

Man, it doesn't get any better. Buy a known car from somebody who is very precise and low miles... I would not let it slip. For such a car 70 would be a steal......

just a quick follow-up - he's decided not to sell for now. He also said the dealer told him he should be able to get 90-95 for the car. I wonder what they're smoking down there - they never give me any when I go in.

By dealer you must have meant a crack dealer who is sampling too much of their own product. $90-95K? Insane. The $70-75K is a reasonable range. There are a couple of similar cars that people have picked up here locally within this same range. One had even fewer miles and still smelled new on the inside....

If it is valued that highly by the dealer, then TRADE IT IN QUICK....

Tried to reply to the PM, but for some reason my computer keeps jumping out of the screen?...

Tell him to trade his car in to them, buy another car like it, pass the paperwork through them, and pocket some cash. Then on to mods!
