Default 97TT for sale

For all the lookers on here lately...this one looks nice..but it's probably pricey....over 70k and reserve not met. I don't know the car.

I'm a looker. I'm looking and talking to someone now about a 1996 TT with 14K miles. It is a stock car. Guards red with black leather. Anyone want to give me a number on what this should sell for?

The purchase prices I see talked about here and other places seem to quite a bit lower than the prices I find vehicles offered for sale for. I know that there are always discounts given at sale time, but the gap seems quite large.

Any help offered is greatly appreciated.

A little info on this one. I wanted to make an offer on this
car last summer. At the time I had an offer in on mine. Mine
had 15K more miles, 30K instead of 12k. I had finished my deal for
70K. Turned out to be a good deal(minus the cluth etc.) but I emailed
the owner in Fla. told him what I had going and told him I had one
just like it for 67K (so I stretched the truth while bargaining.)
anyway the guy said not in a million years. i think he was in the 80's
with this one. Since its in Tenn now. the chances are this guy got
rung up for a sizable amount on this car. guessing from his
reserve not being met at 70K. 70k reserve is he kidding !!?? for
a regular TT??!! he must be looking for north of 80! the dealer probably
told him buy it drive it for a couple months and sell it for what you
bought it for!
Fat chance.

EddieC;

We can give you our opinions on the value if you get details on the car. The old saying, 'the devil is in the details' applies. For example; paint condition and history, body work, documented preventative maintenance, major repairs, options (some are valuable to the next owner and some are write offs), number of owners, modifications, interior condition, color scheme, autocross and track history, how the miles were accumulated, and so forth.

Enthusiast - Here is what I know. The car is a two owner guards red with a great black interior. The paint is excellent as is the interior. The second owner added a bit of carbon fiber to the console, shifter and brake handle. There are no modifications and all the maintenance seems to be in order. A local Porsche shop of some note apparently will vouch for the condition of the car. I would get a PPI from a local Porsche dealership before purshcase but I don't think there is anything to be concerned with. The current owner vows no track or autocross use. The mileage is around 14K.

What would you think is the price range is for this type vehicle? A range that would go from say a "steal" for the buyer to one that is "just about right" for both parties.

Any and all coments are appreciated!

If its a 96 then low to mid 70's maybe-- 97 then maybe high 70's would be a price right for both parties. in the 60's would be a steal, in the 80's the seller
would win the lottery. All pending PPI
I would be nice if you could give us an official list of options.

Old Guy - Thanks for the information. The car was lowered to European specs using M030 factory springs. Other than that the car is stock.

Thanks for posting your opinion!

OG:

Are you sure it is the same car? He told me he bought it in Milwaukee, WI. Priced at 78k or so, it seems pretty good.

This one is color to sample. Not a stock color. Who knows. A $3113 option. I am awaiting some pictures of it. I actually have to travel to Memphis coming up, so I am going to pay him a visit. That wouldn't be a fun drive home...

Good luck!

fyi I have emailed and called this guy, and he has responded minimally. Also, a fellow Rennlister called and was all set and willing (many thinks!) to go see the car, but the seller never got back with him.

Also, the car has been on Ebay at least twice.

Fishy. I am looking elsewhere, though I love the blues...

SLVR97TT - That is the price I'm coming up with. Not a great deal for me, but at the same time, not a great deal for the seller. I think the color reduces the value just a bit. (and I actually like the color)

Anyway, thanks for the input!

Just my opinion but I don't necessarily agree that one color is worth less than another color to a retail buyer, you either like the color enough to buy it or you don't buy it, you may cut down your market share appeal and if it's really bad lose market altogether, but I have paid a little more for a color that I really liked
