this car is fast! we say it all the time, but it's not really true in a quantitative sense.

a beauty to say the least. Is your car the black GT-2 I see around? I would be in the black 944 Turbo that will be pulling over if you ever come up behind me on stunt.

Thanks for the pic - I presume it is a Turbo R since it hasn't got the CTR2's fancy air box/rear wing affair. Very nice look with a good top end but Ruf's inability to work with twin plug means it is somewhat lacking in torque

Well TB you may be correct, perhaps the car is lacking in torque! I don't know since Ruf won't say what the numbers are! In fact,I don't even have a boost gauge but I sure as hell know how fast it goes!BTW,the "stock appearing" rear wing is non CTR2 for a very specific reason. I have no complaints. Fast? Maybe yes, maybe no! Reliable? To the max!
cheers,
R

So is it a CTR2 or a Turbo R and what is the engine difference between those two apart from the intercooler set up ? (and the quoted horsepower, although we all know that is meaningless ) The bright side about your lack of twin plug torque is that you are presumably able to enjoy a nice clutch and don't have to resort to an on/off metal jobbie

The car is titled as a CTR!Build dste was 03/00! It was purpose built for my open road race hobby. I do have hydraulic lifters and I can only guess what the hp # is. To consistently run 211 @ 5500' ASL one might guess 500+ on the ground. Alois only smiles when I push for an answer. His guy recently spent a few days tweaking in preparation for a "test drive demo" and Steve Beddor did the driving. Ruf takes great pride in supporting my hobby. I have not seen an invoice for the recent service/tweaks to engine and suspension! Because I never "drag race" I have 22k miles and 150 runs above 200+ on the original clutch. Ruf rules.

Alois enjoys a bit of rivalry with his ex chief engineer Rheinhold Schmirler aka RS Tuning so I was just extending the rivalry here in a tongue in cheek sort of way
I would reckon (as I think we discussed before a few years back) that you will be pushing 540PS at 5500 and around 1.1bar - this seems to be the limit for the stock intercooler. This would probably translate to the 500 at the wheels.
Your hobby is fairly unique and is a great standard bearer for the 993 chassis

Still remember the day when Roland brought that car out to one of our drives, it was fresh off Lufthansa as i remembered. I knew i got a good look at his rear following him thru Ortega and finally being blown away at the end just for kicks in this:

Roland,
Fantastic looking and sounding car, except for the squeaky brakes with race pads no doubt.
Look forward to seeing you more often on our runs.

except for the squeaky brakes
Hey C4,
The Pagid Yellow pads work well for two reasons: a) they never fade. b) my dear wife no longer bugs me to use the Ruf car as a grocery getter because the squeaky brakes are "embarrassing."
cheers,
R
P.S.
She drove the **** out of my M5 until I installed the roll cage. The M5 is,of course,"embarrassing"with the roll cage. Oh well!
