The problem is a bad acculmulator. I had this exact situation when I bought my car. I finally had the acculmulator changed and everything works the way it is supposed to now.

what is the consequence of not doing trhe repair right away, keep in mind i just spent a ton of $ replacing all the lifters and doing the front rotors and brakes. I am considering holding out on the accumulator unless your almighty rennlister knowledge advises me otherwise, please advise as soon as possible

It is best to change the slave and accumulator at the same time. The parts are about $700 and it's a fairly tough DIY, but doable. Do a search, as Marc in AK did this not too long ago. No real damage will be done if you wait and it won't strand you, but could start leaking hydraulic fluid from the reservior in the trunk right in front of the driver.

You need to do a search and read what has been covered previously. There is a backup reservior in front that is connected to the rear pump by a seal in the slave that fails.

I see this thread popping up lately so I figured I'd update...I replaced the slave and accumulator a year ago and the clutch feels/works perfectly before/after startup even after extended sits (3+ weeks). Costs slave cylinder $688, pressure accumulator $106, Labor $320 (4 hours)
