Default Is it a good price?

A local private individual is selling his white 96 TT with 40000 miles for $62000.00. I actually looking for black or silver color. Should I pull the trigger or be more patient?

I used to own 5 white cars and really want to try something different. What do you think?

Be patient. You dictate the color you want, not the market. You gotta be able to live with it after putting out the $$

I say wait and get exactly what you are looking for. I got mine from a doctor. Single owner. Bla, bla, bla. 54,000 miles. $49,000.

Default Where should I look for?

I usually search the TT from Autotrader.com, ebay.com and yahoo.com. Any other good source?

Tour 18,
that was a great find on your part. The only cars I have seen that low have been salvage title or been in major accidents. Have you had any problems with it?

Opass
Dupontregistry.com is a good one.
I wnated a TT and the color was not that
important. If the white one has a goodPPI
I would say go for it. There are only 2000
96 and 97's around (less when you count the
ones outta commision) so waiting and waiting
might not work. there are more 2001's than
(tt's) than the whole 993 run. I wanted arena
red with gray int and I bought a midnite blue
with cashmere and I just love the dang thing.
forced air is a good thang!

88clbsport, it's 100%. Local car. Total service history. Zero problems. Ever.

What happened is, the good Doctor went to trade it in on a new 996TT and they offered him $44K. To say it pissed off the good Doc is an understatement. He'd show them. He went to a leasing company about 1 mile down the road and they gave him $X and a brand new 996TT from original offending dealer's lot.

Seeing how they weren't in the selling business, to get rid of it quick, they put it on Cars.com. Only when they listed it, they didn't say what it was. So if you did a search on 911 or 993 it didn't show up. If you did a straight up Porsche search and wade through all the other cars, there it was. "1996 Porsche Turbo, Black, 6-Speed, $49,900".

I just about fell out of my chair. It could only be one thing. A 993TT. I bought it within an hour of seeing the ad. It's been a month and I still feel like I did something really bad. Like I stole it. Hell, the loan value was $59,000.

That makes me feel better, because it is hard to find the car when it is listed wrong and you are running more constrained searches. That sales price is off the charts - low.

Congratulations !

Like I said, I just about fell out of my chair. I looked and looked and looked for a couple of months. I think I knew every 993 that was for sale in the US.

What I don't want to tell you about is the '96 993 C2 I bought from a neighbor for $26,000 under exactly the same circumstances. I can't believe the dealers are so out of touch with the psyche of their customers... Like a Porsche nut doesn't know what Porsches are going for. Especially the one they are driving...

Maybe I should start buying my cars from you and paying a finders fee!!
That is 2 great finds, but the TT is the best I have heard from in a LONG time.

My philosophy when it came to this car when I was searching was if you have to convince yourself that this is the car, then it should be your indicator to walk away. Wait for the "one" to come your way. You'll know it when you see it and it will be such a great feeling to find it. I searched for 7 months and there were several that I thought I could live with, but decided to just keep waiting. When I finally came across the one I wanted, it was sheer bliss.
