or do 993's for sale seem to be lingering on the market longer than in the recent past.
I'm especially noticing this on the premium low mileage examples and higher priced wide bodies.
Asking prices are still up there but is anyone buying?
Thoughts?

There is some validity to offerings that seem high, Pano is full of them. Sometimes I think owners just want a high value listing for valuation purposes not to sell. Some bidding site sellers go high as to have no winner where the seller expects prospective buyers to find the car on eBay and will contact them directly off eBay after the posting expires to make a sale.

People are still pricing their cars at the peak of the bubble, hoping to catch a fish.
Most cars that are priced too high just sit; take a look at the Rennlist classifieds and see for yourself.
Cars that are priced fairly move quickly. If it sits, it's overpriced or a trainwreck usually.

my .02- BUT if you bought your 993 to flip- I think you're going to sit on that car a while and too bad for you. these are awesome driving machines. Buy to drive not flip.

Bought mine for $42k with 26K miles 9 years ago. Now has 61,xxx miles and is worth around $60K I'm guessing. Would be great if I was selling but I'm not and probably wouldn't sell it for $120K. Too much fun.

Many or most Porsche models have settled a bit - not just 993's. I have been watching a few different models for a couple years as a potential buyer and the market has settled. Not that it has dropped or dropped much.

Well ... it seems the 993 S Cars and Turbos have leveled off. Haggerty still prices my C4S at $156K Concourse, $120K Excellent, $89,500 Good and $60K Fair. These values have been true for a few years now. Any 993 S car will level out and possibly go down slightly but don't expect the bottom to drop out just based on current Auction prices as of late. They are still bringing good money just not as much as before... slightly.

One angle that you may look at is....as was said in an earlier post, the air cooled 911 market is international in scope. The US$ has been strong for a while now and there is less incentive for a foreign buyer to buy US based cars. I have to admit I do not have a strong idea of the current market in Europe for these cars but for sure, when the Euro was strong compared to the US$, many US cars made their way there. Cheers

First, who predicts the bursting of a bubble before the bubble materializes (ie 4yrs ago)? The prices just started their run-up in 2013-2014 and hit full stride in 2015/2016.
Second: I don't agree that 997 prices have a big effect on purchasers of air-cooled models.
Third: while I agree that 964's are also very desirable (driven by the Singer-effect), the 993 has the unique distinction of being the most advanced and modern of the air-cooled era. If you want the most evolved air-cooled 911, it's the 993.
Having said all this, I'm not in this for the investment. I'm here to enjoy driving and to play fix-it with my favourite "toy".

I generally don't participate in these pricing discussions because, well, I don't really care. But Catherine's reply is odd to me for several reasons.

Looking at just the basic C2, good buys are out there. I recently looked at all the C2 coupes that sold on ebay...not listed but actually sold...and the largest majority sold for under $40k and the average was around $34-$35k. Not low mileage collectors but good solid real world drivers. The wide bodies and turbos, as with the modern cars, are more expensive...but you don't need those to enjoy a 993.
