Convertable Top hinge marks-Need feedback
I'm sure glad I posted this. I was literally punching holes in my roof.
If you open your roof 90 degrees you can easily see what's going on. You will see what looks like a spoiler, 2 elastic stapes pull that bar as the roof closes keeping that part of the roof back away form the guide pin. In this picture you see the bar on the left and the strap on the right. This is the strap before I fixed it, notice its loose, in the next picture the strap will be taught or tight after the fix.

I don't know how to draw on the picture to enplane this better, You see the bar that moves in and out on the right. The left side you see the straps tight after my fix. You can see the wire tie on the top strap.

You see correct full closed position the guide pin goes through the roof. Before, the roof got caught between the guide pin.

My temporary fix is to slide the top strap on that spoiler bar in towards the center of the roof to make it tighter, The bottom is glued in place and wont slide or move. Then wire tie the top of the strap so it wont move. You should be able to move the bar with your hand and it should bounce back in the open or out position and keep the roof folding correctly away from the pin. It doesn't need much pressure for this to work..also you do this with the top in the 90 degree or straight up open position. As the top goes back more the straps will loosen and that's fine, the bar did it's job up to that point.

Left side is down correctly.

Right side down ok but, not perfect. After the top folds more it will fold correctly.

Nicely done, glad you've gotten on this before any more damage was done. I've considered making a fold or tuck in the elastic strap and stitching it to make it shorter and tighten it up a bit but it's not exactly easy to work in there.
Thanks for posting your first pics so I knew what to look for.
I have a brand new Porsche roof and it does not work. There is no adjustment on that strap. The windstop is even worse. The one rivet joint that holds it upright broke the first week. I have a wire tie on that to keep it together. There is no way to wield-glue or repair it in any way. Some kind of pressure fit that just comes right off.
If anybody mess with your liner, watch out after. If the liner is too tight it might add load on the windstop mechanism when the top is up.
It is the case on mine so I need to remove it every time I bring it up or the pin you are talking about takes a beating.

I never knew you could leave the windstop on while the top was up....I install mine each time. I thought that's why it came with a storage bag and is stored in the frunk with Velcro.
Yes, you have the option to do either. I have only removed mine to put small humans in the backseat when the roof was down.
