Actually I have yet to see any car come from Japan without paintwork. Some have multiple layers. They like their cars to look good so they get painted far more often than most here do. A friend who lives in Japan told me nearly every car that leaves gets a haircut prior to being auctioned off. I suspect that is true.

How much are you crew insuring your 993 Carrera 2S or Carrera 4S for?

Dealing with my insurance company at the moment. They didn't give me any pushback on $187.
They did however want more documentation on my R8.

97 2S 37k miles, no body work etc…$146k USD.

is that still good enough? Haven’t kept pulse on market last 4-5 months.

State Farm wouldn’t let me put a guaranteed value. You might want to double check it’s guaranteed. That’s why I pay too much to hagerty lol. The SF rep said they won’t guarantee value. She originally said she could, but then backpedaled and said they would pay out the value I designated (I was only asking 50k) but she couldn’t give me anything in writing. Without anything in writing, I didn’t feel comfy saying “well my rep told me so…” and then getting screwed! Even the rep was like yeah, sorry, it’s a risk.

If you can get it in writing, I’d love to know! I’m in Virginia.

I’ll find the paperwork or confirmation. I was told that they could not do it in previous years but was able a few years ago…..

Thank you! I’ll ask again, currently paying 1k for 50k value. I also have a macan and jeep, SF was much better priced than my current insurer on those as well. So if I move them all over, that would be good!

I also had an AV policy via SF, it required a professional appraisal to be performed and submitted to SF.

Did you have to pay for the appraisal? Or did SF send someone?

I paid for it so I could choose a person who knew their stuff and so I would get the amount I wanted to insure for.

I use Grundy now because SF and Hagerty both had too many restrictions on driving and mileage so watch out for that. Grundy didn't need an appraisal.

Is SF buying Hagerty's underwriter??
