Hey Peter - good for you - as an owner of a Polar Silver/Black 993TT I think you made a nice deal. You hear all these stories of TTs in the 50s and 60s, and they are out there, but when you see a really nice well-maintained example you are willing to pay more. You usually get what you pay for - so I bet you end up with a really solid TT. My slightly modified 1996 993TT had about 20K on it when I bought it in February - we just passed 33K the other day.
