Talking Bought a Turbo

Hello all,
I found a beautiful 97 Polar Silver 993 TT this week in Newport beach. Drove from Seattle to LA in 16 hours and 15minutes over night (Thursday) to see it and bought it Friday morning.

Details;
13,800 miles, Black Supple Leather interior, Aluminum Brake and gear shift, Leather center console, colored wheel crests, Porsche crest in the headrests. This car is so well maintained that people keep confusing it for a new car.

The only thing I could find wrong with the car was that the wiper blades were shot from never having been used and the rear tires will be toast when I get it home to Seattle. If the weather cooperates we will take it up the coast to Monteray and then shoot up I-5 ariving home Tuesday Evening.

I need to say thanks for the help that the board has given me in preperation of this purchase and to Mark for offering to go look at the car on Thanksgiving.

More Tuesday when shes tucked into her new bed.

Awww shoot!!! From my neck of the woods too...that mean's one less available when I'm ready to buy a TT

But congrats on the purchase and don't forget to post pics - although that would only make me more jealous.

BTW, do you mind if I ask how much? You can PM me if you prefer.

Congrats again

HI, Me again,

I left Palm Springs Sunday Morning and took highway 1 and 101 up the coast to Monteray. WOW! What a drive, we actually had a few streches of road with no traffic. WOW! Should I say WOW again? I'm mean it was awesome!!

Today I looked at the rear tires and made the decision that they were not going to make it the rest of the trip. I stopped at a freinds in Los Gatos and made some phone calls looking for some S02's and was about ready to drive to Reno to Tire rack when we found a set that they could have installed that afternoon. Of course I was not about to get the best price on them but at least they didn't bend me over too bad.

The car is even better now that I don't have a vibration coming out of the rear end. I guess they don't like working that well with a little cord showing.
Of course no cord was showing when we left but ther was not a lot of tire there that's for sure.

I will post pictures and answer questions after I get home on wednesday.

Thanks for the congrates,
Pete

Damn, Pete. I wish I had known about those rear tires. I have a set of rear 285 S02s with 12k on them that came on my car I could have let you have for free. They are just sitting in my garage collecting dust, and I'll never use them.

Oh well. Congrats on the purchase!!!

Mark and Kim,
Thanks for the offer of the tires. I guess all I can say is.... oh well.

David and Jack, I paid a premium for the car but I think it was worth it. I paid the $78k for the following.
Polar silver in 97 was a $1900 add.
Supple leather, Colored wheel crests, Headrest crests, Leather center console, Heated seats, Aluminum/leather shifter and brake handle. And best of all, 13,800 miles and not a single scratch on the car.

The weather on the drive home was great, day one up the coast was mid 60's and sunshine, day two (now known as tire day) was the same and after visting freinds we made it to Grants Pass, OR. at Midnight. Day three was just a run up to Seattle with a little fog first thing in the morning.

After I got home I took my 2 boys for a ride on a local twisty road, as I came around a corner I found fresh road tar had been put down for a paving project that was in work. 4 hours later I have now have gotten all that off and will be reapplying wax this weekend.

Again, thanks for all the help in preperation of the purchase.

Now, what toys am I going to buy first..........(hehehe)

Congratulations - one more for the Seattle crew.

What was that local twisty road?

Eric
