That is a beautiful, clean S that at least by the pictures looks about as nice as you're going to find. Not sure what all the caterwauling above is about. That said, it's overpriced. You can buy 991 GT3's for $130K.

To make a sound investment, that old adage "Buy low, sell high" comes to mind. This C2S, while nice, is already "high". If you want to buy it and stuff it away for 20 years, yes, you'll probably make some money. If you drive it sparingly, you'll still make some money but not as much. If you drive it and enjoy it, you may break even but in depreciated dollars. I agree with others: This car would be a consideration at or under $100K.

I love these cars and will most likely own another S or C2 at some point in the future. Buying anything at the top of the market is dangerous. I won't put another dime in the market until it corrects. The same thing here.

If you read my post I was making the point that the car is not "investment grade" - in response to the OP's specific question.

By that I mean you can't buy it, hold it and resell at Bonhams auction in five years and make a profit, for example.

One reason is that it has virtually no options and is not very desirable to collectors for that reason. I never said that my C2 was worth more - I was comparing original MSRP's. My car was $74k 'ish when new and this one was five grand less. That's C2 to C2S - so it's REALLY lightly optioned.

And what about the "Aftermarket amp" while we are at it!
Nice clean car! Best colour inside and outside!

A bit expensive but for 100.000 $...

+1

The Dow has tripled in the past eight years. One of these days an inverse ETF is gonna be the right play.

Also, that's a beautiful 993.

The 993S looks very nice to me. But. If it had hardbacks, some carbon trim bits, and Motor Sound package, it might fetch a bit over $100k. Not much upside potential at the asking price.

I don't know, I don't see cars as solid investments-although it's all about timing.

The market has done fine this year, IMO. I think it ISN'T about timing.

That's dealer sub-20k mileage pricing. Factoring in tax...that one will sit at that price.

agree with sentiments already expressed

nice one for sure but not investment grade... those have less than 10k miles imo... also, wrong wheels for that car (even if ordered from the factory as such)

fully/over priced at asking... $95-105k sale value at this point in time is my educated guess

but most importantly... looking at used cars as investments is just not a good idea... even seemingly nice or precious ones

to me a key flaw in the concept as i see it is... we love cars here... but to have one be a best-possible 'investment' you can't drive it... that is a terrible downer...

Good looking car, a '98 and S both are desirable collector points, but miles are pushing the collator envelope range. Would appear that someone else's investment profit is already built into that price for many years to come. But it would be a fun ride and a hit at shows.

There are dozens of threads all over Rennlist discussing the topic of these cars as investments.

The bottom line is history is very clear. They're not.

When people start talking about classic or vintage cars as an asset class then its time to short the market in them. The same way it was time to short the market in internet stocks when every cab driver and shoe shine guy who knew I worked on the trading floor was telling me about how much they're making in the market back in 2000/2001. No offense to cabbies or shoe shine guys.

The only cars that are investments are true low production very desirable exoitc and rare cars. Its nice that these air cooled 911's have increased in value so much over the last few years. Its a perk we got as owners in this time. Its surely not a reflection of their price going forward.

Buy yourself a nice SnP 500 tracking ETF or Mutual Fund. Take the balance and buy a car you can drive and enjoy. If the car appreciates over time, consider yourself fortunate.

Maybe investment wasn't the right word. Im looking for a car that won't depreciate like my 06 cab s did the second I drove it off the lot.

Still looking....it will happen one of these days.

Seems like some hints of jealousy here.
Jealous? I've got my C2S and funny enough I bought it from Parkhaus 1. Al and his staff are top notch. I wouldn't recommend this but he even answered my call about the C2S Sunday at 7:30am....and we closed the deal a few short days later. Now I'm eyeing the 356 on their lot. Anything they sell is top notch, have you seen their showroom ? As for the Arena Red C2S in my Avatar....Yes it has Hardbacks...whose Jealous now
