To get a few things corrected here-- incorrect statements of fact from a few people here who should know better!!
The RSR was a 98 year modell-- I think they have 97 chassis numbers. There were up to 28 cars made( number varies between 27/28 depending on source) Only one black car and I think 24 or 25 in white.
The earlier cars of similar appearance were Supercup by definition -- not RSR. These cars are often referred to in the US as RSR's.
To confuse even further--in the UK they used to refer to road going RS CS as RSR.
On specific RSR info-- I am guessing an English contributor occasionally here will comment.
The documentation is certainly spotty and further confused by the 964 3.8RSRs that were produced in '93
from Mike Cotton 1/95, the 993GT2 was shown at the Essen Show as the repalcement for the 964 3.8RSR which was introduced in '93 and was raced for 2 years
from Bill Oursler 7/96, the 993Cup and 993RSR are being introduced, the reason was the unfavorable placement of the GT2s by IMSA and SCCA(the GT2s were to be the racing models for use in '95), the first RSRs were essentially upgraded 993Cups upgrades included the M64/75 engine rather than the Cup M64/70 , uniball suspension, using Cup body work, options included bigger 380/322mm brakes, adjustable shocks/springs, wheel carries adjustable w/ shims, adj frnt sway bar, and the wider wheels(9.5/11") w/ flared fenders ala Gt2, FIA approved fuel cell. "no fewer than 16 will be built this year ('96) w/ orders being taken for more in '97"
from J. Barth the 993Cup was released for the '94 season
he lists

50 964RSR 3.8
40 993Cup
1994
50 993 Cup

Starkey lists the first 99series(993) chassis RSR as WPO ZZZ 99 ZTS 398 096 sold in 1996
I looked for Joel's article on racing Reiser/Callas cars but couldn't find it. I'll keep looking though
Bill - great information but I am a little confused by your (Streather's) 1995 Cup and RSR serial numbers. It looks like the first 84 cars could have been either a Cup or an RSR. Is that correct or am I misreading that?
I believe that there were 27 RSR's built in 1997. There were 25 in white, 1 in Black (is in Aus) and 1 in Red. The Red one was on the German Porsche Motorsports website until a few years ago.
I have the red one.
Its ser # is WPOZZZ99ZVS398090.

Well, if you're gonna resurrect an ancient thread to tell us this info, then you need to provide photos of your car, otherwise, what's the point?
