Here are some pictures of my car. For all of them, go to my member gallery. I still have some stuff to do over the next few weeks: put more coats of Zaino on, paint the lips of my wheels silver, take pictures of my stereo and tidy it up, clean my interior, tint the windows, and within a month or two get a new shifter, white/aluminum gauges, and some other little bits. Thats my current wishlist; once I'm done with it I'll make another! The car is Midnight Blue on Marble Gray/Midnight Blue, RS splitters, painted rear bumperettes, supercups without baffles, Turbo wheels (paid $700 with 50% PZeros which is $50 less than I sold my 17" cups for! fixed the curb rash and repainted them with Duplicolor Graphite), H&R springs, removed front bumperettes, euro clear signals, and a pretty nice stereo that I will post up in a few days. The paint looked horrible with water spots and swirl marks last week, so I clayed it, bought PC 7424 and used 3M finesse-it II with a yellow CMA pad(removed 90-95% of all crap but dulled the paint), and then went over it with 3M SMR on a white CMA pad which made the paint look amazing. I knew it would work, but I didn't think it would this good! If you are thinking about buying one, buy it! Post any feedback, good or bad. Thanks
By the way, that last picture is where I was keyed, after I buffed it out with some real muscle. It looks MUCH worse with a flash on it, but you get the idea.
Beautiful ! And thanks ! My car's the same color and seing it with the RS splitters makes my day. I was debating whetehr to do it or not, now I know ! Love it !
Jeee, she looks absolutely beautiful, like the color (although it is of course no purple, as the sales guy said: " you don't see them much (must be a reason for it!)) like the wheels as well! Congratulations!
Wow, thanks for all of the compliments. I love the color, although it is just as hard if not harder than black to maintain. Ocean blue is a fair bit lighter, but it was pretty sunny out. I'll try to take some pictures of the rear with the bumperettes painted. The shop didn't charge me to paint the bumperettes because the top part is not perfectly smooth and there are a few pinholes. There aren't really many lights that make it look purple, although if you check in my user gallery there is a picture where you can see where they get purple from.
Thanks again. Yep, they are supercups without the baffles. How do they sound? It is indescribable; I get an adrenaline rush every time I hit the redline. Sounds sort of like the Porsche race cars with cats to quiet it (which is what it is almost), but it sure does sound sweet. It sure does turn heads! It's not for everyone though...
The splitters look awesome. They will be in my Christmas wish list! How did you fill in the space for the front bumperette? Are the Euro turn lights longer to fill in? Did you paint the rear ones yourself? What kind of paint did you use? I inhereted a keyed rt rear qtr too. Hope 24FPS is rigth about those keyers. Thanks for sharing the nice pix of your car
Superyellowfly, thanks for that cool avatar pic. I'm going to save it and switch it around later from the one I am currently using. The bodywork was done by a body shop; I had an accident with a curb and figured I would replace the broken parts with RS splitters and fill in the bumperette holes while it was getting repainted. The body shop knows what to use, but keep in mind they have to respray the whole front bumper when they are filled in. I guess it could be blended, but you probably wouldn't want that. When the bumperettes are removed, they have to fill in a cutout in the bumper cover that is about 2.5" wide and 1.5" tall or so. Thanks so much for all of the compliments!
